    I recently took my 90 348ts into a local shop to address some issues I noticed, but also had the car go through an inspection to see what else could be addressed at the same time. This being my first Ferrari, I really did not have much of a base line to know what could be off.

    Issues I was aware of:

    1. Leaking rear pumpkin

    2. Fuel vapor not venting

    3. Codes being flashed on both banks (1211 and 1212 from what I could tell)

    4. Oil leaks toward the front of the motor (very recent development)

    Things that were noticed during the inspection and other suggested items to be addressed :

    * Change transaxle fluid (Redline 75/90 GL-5)
    * Replace battery tray (acid damage) and cover (apparently missing...)
    * A/C compressor wire frayed , A/C recharge
    * Replace fuel regulators (may also need O2 sensor)
    * Fuel door repair (broken clip) Fuel cap reseal (seal had bubbled)
    * Clutch and brake bleed
    * Reseal valve covers (one place oil was leaking)
    * Reseal oil line banjo right side of block (other place oil was leaking)
    * Replace fuel tank rollover valve
    * Clutch slave replace (use Hill Engineering) Clutch had apparently over heated
    * Flywheel resurfacing /repack

    I have had my 348 for nearly 14 months and 3k miles and had from my view no real issues. I am glad that it will be much better mechanically when this is through! You can see from the last pic, the car is in GOOD company!

    It was a victim of sitting for a long time...I believe it is going through a mechanical check / restoration to be made drivable.

    Another place the 348 is prone to oil leakage is the cam seals at the front of the engine. I believe Dave Helms has developed a new seal for that application that he has found to fix the problem. My next engine-out I will get those for sure. My 348 has this slight leak at the front, started about 3000 miles after a major. Dave is sure it is these seals.

    As for the Hill Engineering release bearing, are you also going with the upgraded flange (CRBF348/355M Flange)?

    What shop is that in the Springs?

    I don't know about the flange...I will have to ask.

    PM about the shop.

    New cam seal carrier o-rings in the photo and confirmed the cam timing was set correctly via the factory timing marks.
    You can see the broken remnants of the spark plug wire holders in the valve covers (extracted the broken bits & installed new plug wire holders)
    Discovered the spark plug wire connectors (on top of the plugs) were all loose & the plugs were gaped incorrectly. Tightened the tops & gaped the plugs correctly.

    You may want to have your mechanic remove both of the shift linkage connecting bolts (the one you have circled), and have him feed them through the top instead of from the bottom, the way they are pictured. The reason is, if in the unlikely event the nut/s back themselves off the bolt you would still have the bolt "keeping" the linkage connected. The way those bolts are fed in there right now you would loose both the nut and the bolt, in the even the nut backs itself off, and.......lose the connection between the cable and the tranny.

    Thanks Ernie and 348Jeff, that makes a good bit of sense. I forwarded the photo to my mechanic.

    I love the 355 rear lights and the 360 wheels! Hopefully your first trip to the shop won't "hurt too bad"

    The lug nut was probably in there so a socket could be used to remove the fill plug. It's a 17mm allen IIRC, something that's not in a lot of tool boxes.

    ..it's well into 5 digits. I'm not going to lie, when I saw the estimate I went a bit numb. I have gotten over that because I believe in the long run it will be worth it for the piece of mind, and to a point its overall value.
    I have been really easy on the car for the first year, and now I think I will be able to drive it more of the way it is supposed to be enjoyed. There are also a several minor things that are being addressed that I have not mentioned that didn't have to be addressd and certainly could have been lived with ....I just decided " if something could be fixed, to have it fixed." For example, the battery box was wrong and needed replacing, the gas door didn't open the way it should, AC is being recharged even though I have never used it (found out I should be to keep it oiled)....
    The car was well sorted with the major being done when I got it....now it will be nearly perfect. I was told when I was looking for a 348 that the purchase price was only the cost of admission.....and that has certainly turned out to be true. And, fortunately, I was prepared to deal with that. Additionally, it is easier to get it all done at once than to make multiple appointments!

    +1 You might want to hold on to that lug nut. :D

    Welcome to the club. We will have to compare notes at C&C sometime. You won't believe what I have spent on mine. But it is now a very reliable and fun machine.

    I really feel bad but you are not alone, in the 4 years I owned it I spent well over 10k myself on the same car ....
