Not having seen F-70 as yet I would tend to agree the hill is steep. If the f-70 doesn't fashion an active rear spoiler, as many have noted, I would think the challenge is all but over with regards to road track capabilities and performance. Looks on the other hand is another story. A long way to go before we see the way this all plays out.
Of course and all we know how much HVS loves Ferrari. 7,38 as for the GTR MK1 / ZR1 / LFA ... It's strange that for Autobild professional race driver all those cars are seconds per lap behind the 458 (see attachment) Another info for comparison : Porsche 911 GT3 4.0 sport auto 7:30 (8 s faster than 458) Porsche 911 GT3 4.0 Autobild 7:34,9 (2 slower than 458) The MP-12C tested by sport auto was on Pirelli PZero Corsa and with wheel alignment well optimized for track (out from standard values) see attachment. Anyway venial sin the MP4-12C is a VERY GREAT CAR. Cheers Luque Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
In all the direct comparisons on dry track the MP4-12C has beaten the 458 only once. While the dry lap times were similar, the 458 was way quicker on wet track.

Remember you are on a Ferrari Forum, hence biased by the BADGE! In fact I would be happy to Volunteer my Stock 12/C with V10 Upgrade against any stock 458 Coupe on any racetrack with the same driver behind the wheel, then the Bull **** will stop.
It's not about opinions or bias. Simply the result of British, American, German magazines: The 458 was faster than the MP4-12C in all but one direct comparisons on dry track.
Oh really? Those numbers prove otherwise. 1)Bedford Autodrome West Circuit (post 06/2008), Great Britain (2896 m): -Ferrari: 1:19.3 -McLaren: 1:19.6 2)Vairano Handling Course, Italy: -McLaren: 1:14.81 -Ferrari: 1:15.14 3)Autocar Dry Handling Track, Great Britain: -McLaren: 1:08.6 -Ferrari: 1:08.9 4)Top Gear Track, Great Britain (2820 m): -McLaren: 1:16.20 -Ferrari: 1:19.10 5)Rockingham International Super Sportscar, Great Britain (3122 m): -McLaren: 1:27.50 -Ferrari: 1:28.30 6)Hockenheim Short, Germany (2604 m): -McLaren: 1:08.70 -Ferrari: 1:09.70 7)Anglesey National, Great Britain (1931 m): -Ferrari: 0:59.20 -McLaren: 0:59.30 8)Nordschleife, Germany (20600 m): -McLaren: 7:28.0 (HSV) -Ferrari: 7:38.0 (HSV) 9) Mireval, France (3298 m): -McLaren: 1:30.58 -Ferrari: 1:31.60 10) Balocco, Italy: -McLaren: 2:43.46 -Ferrari: 2:43.90 11) Laguna Seca, USA (3602 m): -McLaren: 1:34.50 -Ferrari: 1:36.22 12) Ring Knutstrop (Conf 2), Sweden (2070 m): -McLaren: 1:08.00 -Ferrari: 1:10.00 So, it is McLaren 10-2 Ferrari, thus the Ferrari is no match for the McLaren on track. Not to mention that most of the registered lap times were done before the 12C's v10 upgrade.
And that's what Formula One teams are all about (Constant updates and improvements). So you're telling me that if Ferrari were rolling a power upgrade to your 458 or whatever Ferrari you have, you are not going to want it and criticize them for doing that? If so, fair enough.
Sorry don't own a Ferrari yet. But, like you said if I had one and ferrari offered updates for it I'd take them. That being said, I would prefer them to sell a finished and polished product, that behaves as they adverse it to do out of the box, and not after 2 or 3 updates... This is not F1, or software, this is paying top dollars for semi finished products, and waiting for them to be finished while you own them.. P.S. I am aware that Ferrari also sells unfinished products as well, but it doesn't mean it's a good thing..
Good thing McLaren did the updates for free eh? Screw the tuners, the 2012 spec cars got a HP bump from the factory! Plus, I'm yet to see a 12C burn to the ground....
Mark, 85886 user refers to direct comparisons so laptimes were performed the same day. Bedford, Rockingham (MP4-12C did in 1:29,24, the 1:27,50 is a childy claim of McLaren), Hockenheim, Anglesey plus Spring Mountain (Radical loop section). All 458 wins except Hockenheim. Luque
Mark ANTAR, yes, really. The MP4-12C has only won one of all the DIRECT dry track comparisons, i.e. on the same day under comparable conditions of track, driver etc. You've mostly listed tests carried out two years apart.
Nothing stopping Ferrari or the magazines going back and doing it again! Hell all the Nurb lap records were most definitely done over a period of years, same with the Top Gear times, yet everyone quotes them. So, are we going to pick nits or follow some kind of rule (only lap times conducted on the same day at the same time count)?
