#5024 gets started once a month, moved around and that is about it! The mechanical is all original, interior is all original with 8,000 original miles. My father decided he did not like the original paint as it was slightly dull after 30+ years and started a cosmetic paint restoration about 5 years ago. The car is painted and just needs to be buffed. I am trying to convince him to finish everything and bring it to the 50th celebration in Pebble but he is very OCD. He rarely shows his cars and is fixed to his ways. I posted a few pictures of it a few months ago. I will dig them up.
I fixed that for you There was a show involving a West Coast custom car builder who would never finish the restoration of a car, so his family "removed" the car from its garage, reported the car "stolen" (with the cooperation of local law enforcement), finished the restoration at a secret location, and presented it to him later as a surprise. He graciously accepted in tears. True story, you may have to try that.
Dear all... maybe can you tell me if this is an engine number or is a gearbox number? 142635? Many thanks and compliments for all the informations, Antonio Image Unavailable, Please Login
The engine number is on top of the block in the middle between the two cylinder heads. The gearbox casting is part of the block so there is not a separate number for it. The number you are showing appears to be part of the distributor mount. Cheers Jim
My understanding is the casting is still the same as the older configurations, but the holes between the block and transmission are removed so oil can not pass from the engine to the gearbox. Cheers Jim
