Well I know I just asked about a gt2, but now I think I'm leaning towards the 964 turbo(really have been looking at both of them). Anyway just wondering if anyone knows this car. Thanks. Inventory Of Used Porsches | Classic Porsches | AIC Auto
find a 3.6 and you'll have a good long term investment or a 3.3 and just drive the poo out of it IMO black/black with the two piece wheels is the only way to fly. well, maybe GP white/black.
Had a '94 3.6 Turbo. Black on Black. Of the 12 P cars I have owned, it is the "one that got away"...... Damn..... Well that one and the Euro 964 Cup.
Yellow and dark blue look good as well. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sold my 91 964 turbo a few years ago with 21k on the clock. It was a very good car, but not exciting as my modded 930. Be sure to check the ac line on top of the intercooler as it rubs against a bolt on the decklid. I modded mine by wrapping fuel line around the ac lines in that area.
Now that looks good. I've actually seen two red ones in person. One exactly like that, and the other had black 996 rims.
3.6 Turbo and drive the snot out of it. Better still if you can find the Euopean spec Turbo S that is the cream of the crop.
I have a 993 TT and I drive the piss out of it. These cars love to be driven hard- as they were designed to do
My father had a 3.3 which I loved. It had a bogus alarm system that kept going crazy and cutting the fuel, but after we fixed that issue, it was a fabulous car. Incredible noise. My uncle who was a former semi-pro race car driver drove it once while I was in the passenger seat, and that was the first time I noticed how easily a 911 will swap ends on you. Not so fun facing oncoming traffic though. Scared the hell out of me. It was back on black, which is the best color to hide the plastic on the ducktail, if you don't want to paint over it. Alas, dad traded it for a 96 993 Carrera... That was also a great car but the Turbo was something else.
Are they really that hard to drive? I'd love to get one, and maybe I will someday but I hear lots of stories about spinning out. Could you describe what makes one spin out, and how to drive so you don't?
The 964 turbo is pretty easy to drive as it has a conventional suspension that calmed most of the tail happy antics out of the 930 turbo. The 964 also has power steering, decent ac and a hydraulic clutch. How not to spin? Don't lift off the gas while in a turn. Keep on the gas and the car will track through the turn.
You just have to be aware, with any 911, that the engine is in the back so it creates the "pendulum" effect. With the older turbos, the question of lag is also to be kept in mind. You hear a few stories of 930's swapping ends because the turbo kicks in mid corner... Mainly, though, it's not so easy to do it if you drive within the traffic laws..
That dark blue car is a beauty! We had Speedline rims sort of like the ones on the red car, but we also had the regular rims like on the blue one. I've always preferred the regular wheels, though. Our car was very similar to Canine64's.
i am long on 964's. have both turbo 3.6 and turbo s (which is quite rare in rhd). also have 964 speedster (quite rare in rhd) and 964rs lightweight. 3.6 and s are vastly different cars. speedster is the 16m of its' day - a way cool and fun car
Well here we are picking it up in Baltimore, followed by a trip to the tail on the way home to Hattiesburg. So far so good, really do like this car, so much different than my gt3. Just holding my breath that this car doesn't act like my 355, I think I would just leave them all running in the lower ninth ward if that were the case. Image Unavailable, Please Login
