I am simply amazed at the level of arrogance on this thread. To say a GTR is no Ferrari is stating the obvious, it isn't. Having all 3 (GTR, 430 and 458) I can tell you that the GTR is simply a great car, it is almost unreal how fast it is and the launch control just puts a huge smile on my face. Does the car handle, hell yes it does? Does it get attention, yes every bit as much as my 458, maybe even more and no - not just from the boy racer crowd. Respect it for what it is, a 100k super car that will smoke just about every modern day Ferrari with ease. The weak link is it's brakes, they won't last more than 3 laps in the hands of someone who has skills.

come on why are we even talking about this, so many other cars are faster. Big deal. Ferrari was never the fastest. But it's the dream.

I like the GTR, but only as a 2nd car to the Ferrari. I would prefer the 911 turbo tho, if we're talking fast, and tunability.

The GTR is an awesome car. I don't know why any car guy would want to bash it. It's not a Ferrari and it's not pretending to be one. Nissan did a spectacular job with that car. Nissan is not marketing the car as a Ferrari alternative. To me, it is a very a cool car. So what if it beats the crap out of a Ferrari. I have a DBS that listed for $305k. Should I feel bad that a $65k Camaro can beat it in a race? I don't.

Actually the opposite, the GTR shines even more in corners. I had a 360, it absolutely will not touch GTR in corners, even my Gallardo has no chance at all.

The 360 is however much more fun to drive than the GTR.

I am not trying to take anything away from the GTR. A friend of mine has one and it is very impressive.... but.... I would never buy one... not my cup of tea... to much computers... I like having a drivers car.

Anyone who says anything like "" TOO MUCH FOR THE STREET""

is pushing my buttons. (easily found apparently !!!)

There's never such thing as: too much of anything related to horsepower, performance or technology.

    Example: Veyron.

The minute someone tries to limit my ability to buy performance, I'm going to speak up.

Banish the words "too much for the street" from this forum and I might be happy, then of course I'd be a hypocrite, because I'd be limiting YOUR freedoms...oh well, the post seemed like a good idea when I started :)

Linked ideas, rights to bear arms, high horsepower motorcycles, you get the idea.

The fellow crashing the Nissan ran out of talent. Consenting adults. Simple.

A friend of mine got a GTR for the weekend. They were trying to sell it to him and wanted lure him in :D

We took it through the Beskdy country mountains in the Czech Republic, he lives in Slovakia. We both live on the borders of each country. I had the advantage, I knew the roads better, Ive had my Scud for over a year and my car is just better looking (ok that subjective.....).

I had it in Race Mode. When I drove in front (leading the way not being faster). I noticed once we were 70% around the corner and I accelerate full out I could "just" pull away. I mean just, we are talking about maybe 1-2m max I see him fad back a little. I dont know if its cause I hit the power first, in the better gear, or I only had one person in the car(he had two). But pretty much it was ever so slight.

When he drove in front, I really noticed that he would be breaking a lot more then me into the corners. I dont know what to take of this because while the Scud is much lighter with better brakes, I knew the roads so much better and my car better then he knew his, but I could enter the corner at higher speed.

Just to note, while he is a very good driver, but he only had the car one day long.

I walked away pretty gutted...... While he did have the latest Generation GTR I could not believe how great value such a car is and someone with (while being very good) had a little of a day of experience in the car could drive it so easily so well.

Congrats to Nissan for creating such a great car for so little money.

The F430 is slow and the spyder even slower, + the poor gasoline available in california. No chance.

The 360 is junk. Outside of the sound there is nothing fun about it. The 6spd and F1 are both clunky, the interior cheap and the car always feels like it is about to fall apart. GTR is levels above a 360. I would say the F430 Scud + Italia are much more fun then GTR, but not a 360.

I think most will agree with all the above, except... there is no way in hell, on any planet, that a GTR would/can/will get near the attention of most Ferraris. Let alone a 458. C'mon!!

Here in southern California my silver GT-R gets more attention than my red Scud. Fact.

GTR is my daily driver, no longer a 360 owner, if my 360 were black or red, I probably would still have it. For me the 360 was a ton more fun to drive, I can even say out of all the cars I have owned, GTR got me bored the quickest. Even S2000 was a lot more fun to drive than GTR for me.

I still have GTR because it is a great daily driver and performance for the money absolutely can not be beat. Maybe I am old school, I like to drive my cars, not the other way around.

The 6spd in 360/F430 is one of the very best manual gear box IMO. I have owned many manual cars from S2000, 6spd Supra, SCed NSX, etc.

I have the S2000 and 360F1. I prefer the S2000 shifter above anything else I've owned. So precise, so slick.
