    Judge;

    Love the round lamps, good upgrade. On my '96 Turbo R, I swapped out the US halogens for E-code Cibie lamps. Was able to obtain all from Flying Spares in the UK. The outer lo/hi beams are no problem--you can get those from several sources--it'll be the inner optics that will be the tricky/expensive ones, as they are technically "auxiliary driving lamps" and not fog lamps, like many people think. Here are the inners that I purchased for my car:

    http://www.flyingspares.com/shop/rolls-royce-spirit-spur-bentley-turbo-mulsanne/electrical/head-side-fog-indicator-flasher-lamp/round-twin-headlamps/inner-headlamp-round-domed-glass-ud70822.html

    Note that it says RHD and LHD, which is correct as they do not need to be "sided" since they put out a flat, spread beam.

    My car is currently down for a front end rebuild and new steering rack. :(

    ...so I'm driving my TR6 daily :D

    Cheers,
    Aaron

    Flying Spares is where the wings and the lights came from. All of my service bits are coming from the Bentley dealer in Silicon Valley.

    Dear Dr. Dumb Ass,

    I'm just curious. Why didn't you pick something worth restoring like a MB 6.3 or a 4.5?

    I realize the Germans lost the war. But, the Brits never did figure out how to build anything worth a damn.

    Seriously, they both have air shocks right?

    I guess it is an age thing, the M100 cars are cool, but I have my Mercedes restoration project with the 450SL. This one has hydraulics.

    Sorry, I realize my last post was rude. My apologies.

    You have to realize I spent way to many years dealing with British motorcycles. And the Brits, you gotta love em, I guess. They never figured out that that same metal on metal is not a good idea. Such as, which you have zinc throttle slides and zinc throttle bodies. This gives a whole new spin on WFT.

    It's cool, anyone that puts up with me over drinks in Carmel is okay in my book.

    I do prefer the Mulsanne S over the Eight, but, IMHO, with what it costs to keep these beasts happy, I don't understand the logic behind not going for a Turbo R, as a brake job will set you back the better side of $4K+ whether it's an Eight, a Mulsanne S or a Turbo R, so why not go the whole hog unless you prefer the softer ride and lower trim spec of the Eight/Mulsanne?

    We just stole, er, um, "took in on trade" an '87 Eight at work. Pretty color combo, Navy over Parchment (or Magnolia?) with a bill ten on it. I thought of making my Bentley fleet 'three deep' but again, I circle back to the upkeep costs being the same no matter the model, which is why I personally prefer Turbo Rs. Besides, I got a stonking '03 Super V8 to keep my XJR company and let me tell you...THAT is a helluva lot of car for the money!
