Is it time for gun control in America?

All semi auto's were banned after Port Arthur, even .22's . However farmers can (and many did) get exemptions to keep their S.A firearms.

The main benefit of an SA rifle for hunting is the abilty to quickly place a follow up shot because you don't loose the sight picture through the scope (as you do with a bolt action single shot rifle when you cycle the action to releoad).

This was from the "assault weapon ban" of the 90s, absolutely ridiculous where weapons were differentiated on cosmetics.

Another odd thing basically banned, barrel shrouds. This is nothing more than a piece of metal around the barrel so that a person cannot touch a hot barrel.

 

I don't like the term banned, they are available to people with a Category D license.

Semi-automatic centrefire rifles, pump-action or semi-automatic shotguns holding more than 5 rounds. Functional Category D firearms are restricted to government agencies and a few occupational shooters. Collectors may own deactivated Category D firearms.

Ian, I HAVE been to Hermansburg, probably the saddest place on earth and every Australian should be made to go there and read the history... but I got out of the car, spent time at the museum and walked down the street to the local store to buy something without a backward glance - how many of the US Fchatters would even DRIVE through South LA or many other no-go zones? I'm not saying Aus is perfect; my point was we DON'T live in fear of our fellow Australians or government, the way many Americans do; I stand by that assertion. BTW I've also taken a train after dark to Fairfield in western Sydney (in 2007 for a 500 anniversary gathering!)

Bit scary the latest one. A policeman shooting policemen. And the the Police shoot a car that looked like the offenders car injuring both occupants. The good old shoot first and ask questions later.

I couldn't believe how many bullets they put into the car, it wasn't just one or two shots. They SPRAYED the car. Idiots is an understatement Wax. I hope they are both put on desk duty for the rest of their careers!

 

This is just symptomatic of the number of weapons in the hands of idiots
