On board there is Dario Benuzzi
A few observations from the footage Marchettino provided: - The rear spoiler is very Enzo/Aventador-like - The front end does not seem to generate enough downforce in this spec as it raises quite a bit under acceleration - Interesting intakes (round) on either side of the front grill as seen at 04:23 in the footage - Similar in height to the Enzo
Even it its raw, unfinished form it looks sexy as hell! Kinda like the old Group C racers from the 80's. The only thing missing was a huge wing running along the back. But here in 2013 supercars no longer need such appendages. The look is lean, mean, sleek and low. I would have mine in black... The sound was nasty, nice and throaty like a B-29 flying at low level! I am on pins and needles waiting to see this beastie in its finished outlook!
There sure is a ton of McLaren (wasted on me at least) energy being spent here on the F70/150 threads. I'm starting to think Ron Dennis is working under several fake names here on FerrariChat! Hey, I RESPECT McLaren and its offerings....but I am not a fan and never will be. Imagine a Red Sox fan visiting a Yankees forum trying to convince everyone the Sox are better....Not. Gonna. Happen. I'm sure the P1 will be a stellar performer......but my heart bleeds Maranello rosso red. No amount of stats and figures and test results from magazines and opinions educated or otherwise about how awesome the 12C, P1 or even the fabled F1 is can change that. They are all great cars and I prefer almost any Ferrari to them. So the question still stands.... "Yeah...what ABOUT the P1?"
Wow, what a circle of crybabies. Ferrari Post McLaren Post People complain about the Mclaren post McLaren facts corrected Statement that once the facts come out all will be proven on both sides and it goes on and on.... Zero reason to NOT have comparisons to the P1 and the P 4/5, so please stop creating noise every time one of these cars is brought up. Until we actually have real stats and final designs, all we have are reasonable conjecture based on information, which undoubtedly will always cause conversation for comparisons. Its a car forum. If it bothers you that much, use the block feature, there are several posters who have almost all of their f-chat posts in this thread--with zero info to show from them, they would be a good place to start Besides, if it wasn't for other cars raising the bar, what would be be left with?
The fact that the front lifts under acceleration is not caused by the lack of aerodinamic forces on front end. There is very little force under 80km/h.....in low speed grip is basically a matter of tire. As for the video, if you take close look at second 0:55-1:00 there's a huge acceleration in very very short time and it's seems effortless. Did someone else see this?

The active aero fans on P 4/5's nose produce downforce at 0 KPH. Jim's Vacuum Cleaner Can Am could hang from the ceiling at rest. On the road as you point out a lot of aero doesn't start to work until the car gathers speed and mechanical tire grip is important but a low speed active aero fans work very well. The 599xx has them and I hope the F70 does at well.
Other point is that ferrari settings for suspension permit a relative high rate of mass load changes under braking, accelerating, even cornering, unlike other makers who keep the movement very low. You can say it's bad for Nordschleife, where you need race car suspension to be fast. The plus is that with a pro driver on the wheel, those movements can be used as a advantage. In world rally car mass transfer is the basic of driving. With hard settings, fast right-left movements can make the car mass transfer so fast it can't be controled, especialy on normal roads. Ferrari permit a bit of roll, in a way that makes that transfer progresive and predictable. Relative soft suspension is good, the key is to control body roll, the hidraulic sistem that control this is the main advantage of the mp4 .
I agree. The great thing about Ferrari's is that over many years they have a unique and very interesting road feel. As you said generally this isn't well suited to the Ring and re engineering Ferrari's road suspension made a huge difference there. When I return it to the road it will be interesting to see how our re engineering feels on the road. The F70 is a road car and that's where how it feels will matter. McLaren has clearly built the P1 to REALLY perform on the track but many owners will never drive one there. I look forward to driving both of these on a track and on the road but I think you're right and the F70 may be better for the vast majority of owners. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I expect to see a LOT of active aero on the new F70. I can imagine hyper-cars in the future operating like airplanes on the ground... with flaps and rudders that are always adjusting to the even the slightest changes in steering and speed being as important as the tires to get the car around a track. Just look how well it works for the Pagani Huayra: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOfROZcoL1I[/ame]
