Eddie, I tested a bunch of F430's within a few hours of each other...no doubt about it in my mind...the F1 in the '08 which I bought impressed me as being noticeably different. Maybe sometime this weekend we can do some "compare and contrast" evaluations.
I driven all the cars posted and I am not an owner of any of the Ferrarris or GTR, but I only own a humble Mitsubishi evo 8 with 800bhp with shell 98 on high boost and 700bhp on low boost. To me, I would choose the 458 if I can ever afford it. It's a beautiful and a real street monster . Yes, it may not be a match for my evo or a done up GTR , but the 458 just makes me one to launch the car silly and be on permanent Andrenalin. The 458 is a superior car IMHO but not the quickest and its my choice of I ever have the money to acquire one. My two cents
Right, because a real man with large hairy genitalia makes unsubstantiated claims, calls it the 'scientific method' ... [pauses to laugh.... hold on.... one more sec... ok here we go] and then cries foul when his posts are called out for what they are [beyond all reasonable likelihood, etc.] declaring it a personal attack. Way to show off the manlihood, manly man! Ron Jeremy has nothing on you. See how not sarcastic and complimentary my un-personal attack is? Signed, Reason and the Universe
Sorry, my bad. Since you track you should know that it's more driver than anything. I get really annoyed by people who come up and show track results with novice drivers... it's so misleading. You're right tho, the GTR is a capable track car even tho it is heavy. One of the most annoying videos I've seen was an '03 E55 AMG sedan "beating" a 996 Turbo on the track. People jumped up and down about how much faster the E55 is LOL. So it gets on my nerves when these falsehoods get propagated...
Seems like everyone is calming down...... The GTR is a great car but doesn't hold the image of a ferrari, people see the 360/430 etc and think $200k car even though they aren't anymore.
Now don't you just have to love this!!! Hammad, first of all, welcome to Ferrari Chat! How on earth did you find out about this thread? Your F-Car 458 neighbor? In any event...again, welcome! Your GT-R/F430 adventure sure has everyones' panties in the twisties! It has certainly lead to one of the most spirited thread discussions I've seen in the 360/430 area! Those dyno results for your GT-R are amazing...very low % power loss from flywheel to road (not even 10% loss). I would also assume that the conservative mods on your GT-R reflect the desire to maintain your warranty? What's in stroe for the future? Keep coming back and give us some updates.
Hammad, great "meeting" you and running with ya last Sat - were you at C&C by chance? It was a fun couple of runs, but like I said, I was very impressed how the GTR walked on me. 530 hp certainly will toast my stock 483 hp. Did you recall what our speeds got up to? I never looked at my speedo, but my guess was 40 to 100 mph or thereabouts. Fun times, and hope to meet you again.
But but RATU, you promised not to tell anyone about my large hairy genitalia!!! Some gentleman you are! Thats was supposed to be our little secret you naughty boy. You must have been the guy ahead of me in that run who I mentioned having considerable trouble shepherding his brick of a car (GT-R) around the sharp corners on the cottage roads. Those would be the same corners... I was coasting through - 5 FEET OFF YOUR ASS. Yes, you pulled away on the the few straight sections of road, but I caught you every time at the end of them, as did the Lotus behind me catch me when I had to slow down for you. So RATU, if you were that GT-R driver, then perhaps you are embarrassed at your lack of driving acumen since you claim your car is so capable. If you are not that driver and were not on that drive, then you really have no valid comment since all you can do is spout third party experiences which in no way invalidate what I have said. At the end of the day, GT-R owners think their cars are on top of the heap. Nice to see some pride in what you own. It's just not my cup of tea.
Dr.Don, Its not like its private, eveyone can see the toe. Hairy as a dromedary, if you catch my drift. Sorry to let the 'cat' out of the bag, so to speak. That is an extraordinarily cool story bro, But what really happened is that I lapped you seven times before you could finish a single lap. 3 because you were giving it all she had, and 4 because you broke down twice. Now the Ferrari 308... That's faster than the new Porsche 918... Apparently... It's kinda fun being as absurd as you. But your BS has no power here. Obviously not your cup of tea... You prefer heaps. And yes, our car is on top of yours. Ferrari 360 CS vs Nissan GT-R - FastestLaps.com Had you never bothered to post dumb stuff no-one would be calling your posts dumb... Food for thought. Signed, Reason and the Universe.
RATU - We'd much prefer a new user join and enjoy the board whatever they own, but if you're only here to cause trouble, the silliness will end another way. This is a Ferrari board and, while we respect that all cars have their good points and Ferraris are not always best or fastest, being here only to trash on Ferraris or users won't end well.
I have no problem with Ferrari's whatsoever. Also, I am no fanboy to a point in which I would even defend if someone were to say that the GT-R were capable of some feat which it is not, based on anecdotal 'experience.' There are things cars do better than others, none is perfect. I withdraw any harshness implied against Ferrari. I quite acknowledge that preference is not always about speed. The former is subjective and I respect it, the latter is objective measures, and can be verified outside of opinion or 'that one time with my buddy Fred...' Which is why, with all due respect, 'make believe speed' on a 10-yr old model does injustice to any car.
It's fine to have a good debate, earnest back and forth and even some trash talking about the cars, so long as it's in good fun. When it gets personal, it crosses the line. Understood that there was a bit of provocation on the other side, but let's all stay civil as much as we can. Enjoy the board.
I am an avid reader, first time poster. Some good info on this board. I can respect keeping it clean, it's something not all boards do a good enough job of.
Thank you for the warm welcome. The internet is a much smaller place than what people will have you believe. It also doesn't hurt that the GTR community is pretty small, and therefore pretty close-nit. Some of the members here are GTR owners, and started a thread in Socal GTR (FB Page) asking who was the black GTR. Sure enough it was me. I was at C&C. I think I ended up in low/mid 4th gear which is around 110-120mph. I also, wasn't looking at my speedo. I see you track that Lotus of yours. Care to share next time your going to be at the race track? I track the GTR pretty often. Would love to hang out and drive in a more driver centric and safe environment. I will be going to AAA Speedway on Feb 23rd. Hammad
This is what I find to be interesting...the two "combatants" have a civil and gentlemanly greeting/discourse on F-Chat. No bold or aggressive assertions, just a clear appreciation for the few moments of their encounter. To me, this epitomizes good sportsmanship and promotes an appreciation for the engineering and design of other brands even if the other brad is perceived as a "rival." Eddie and Hammad, Bravo! And thanks for the impetus for this thread, but please be careful! Don't find yourself on the bad side of section 23109(a) C.V.C...it's a nasty violation!
And, oddly enough, the Festiva is more likely to get you laid. Women don't like being upstaged by a sports car.
