The photography series you ran back then was great. I still use what I learned from it.
    Thanks.

Interesting: The photos showing the racing nos. 28 and 23 are of the car when it had a strange metal panel inserted in the space formerly occupied by the rear window, with a much smaller window. That's how I remember it when a Dr. Martinez brought them up from Mexico to sell (two of them). I've always wondered what that was about. Was the huge plastic window too flexible at high speeds?

Interesting post. Yes the "palace revolution of 1961/1962" was the cause of signifigant problems. Ferrari, the man, did contribute over the years to some of these problems being behind the curve when it came to things like disc brakes, momococque{/} construction, mid engine designes["the ox pulls the cart" etc .Then we have to consider years like 1954 and the Lancia road racers and 1955 with Mercedes everything. The idea to add two cylinders to the 750/860 engines without serious testing and expect them to be reliable and competitive was a let down all around. But let's not forget Ferrari has always been there as the cars to beat just as it is today. The "very complex stuff" will always have a way of changing bed fellows. tongascrew

    a 1968 bloody Cadillac Station Wagon for $ 6.800 is more expensive than a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT for $ 3.900????
    A Miura P 400 for 11.500 and a Miura S for 16.750 pfffffffff.....

Graypaul was owned by the late David Clarke and at the time probably held more spares than the UK importers Maranello Concessionaires. The photo is poor but the content is unreal. I count 2 GTOs, 2 Lussos and no less than 4 250 SWBs......let alone Robert Horne's 512M and a myriad of other exotica........ Those were the days !!

But it is 0856 with #23, suggesting it was the Daytona winner, when owned by David Clarke.

but Ted...U R spot on!!!!! Myself, I knew it was either 1978 or 1979 @ the Glenn for the FCA national meet that year.. N i'll have to give U the benefit of the doubt on the year...that 412 is one of the nasty, meanest sounding cars ever.....Probably my all time favorite....I also have a photo of the engine bay...I'll try and dig it up and post here also.... "WHAT A MOTOR" !!!!!!!

Paul, the car under the 'Start' banner in your first photo, (or its twin) slipped past me on Sunday around midday near Roqubrune at the eastern end of the Grande Corniche. Registration EYE 1, colour red. Not very good at model numbers can someone tell me what it was?
