Hi all, after a long time abstinence from FChat I'm now back with the latest news from MY 328. Many folks from the Europe chapter know me from the FChat tour to Switzerland (hopefully). Restauration started in October 2012 and the complete restauration will be handled by the company Robert Fehr in Grünberg in Germany (Hessia). I'm there with my car for over 10 years because of a painful and disappointing service from the official Ferrari dependance in Frankfurt What will be done? - complete revision of the engine - new timing belt and tensioner pulley - new clutch - new cogwheels for the 5th gear (damaged) - revision of electric components - review of coaches - review of rust - new rubber seals - complete paintwork for all components - new windshield - powder coating of a few elements - refurbish of all rims When the restauration is finished for this year the next year is dedicated for the restoration of the leather and interior of this beautiful car. You can more than 230 pics about the single steps of restauration here: https://plus.google.com/photos/101566506435883712061/albums/5843409433463782673?authkey=CKn-0OD03ufsRg#photos/101566506435883712061/albums/5843409433463782673?authkey=CKn-0OD03ufsRg Currently the car is out for the paintwork ... Any comments are appreciated. Do not hesitate to ask for more details. I want to share my experiences with the restauration with all enthusiastic Ferraristi all around the world. Best to all of you - may winter go and the Ferrari season start in Europe asap
Wow. I think this is the first full restoration of a 328 that I know of. Good luck. I look forward to seeing the work in progress and the final result. -F
Uwe, What brand of sealant are you using between the fender and the engine lid sail panel? I am referring to that black line of soft sealant that seals the gap between the two panels. -F
Looking through those pictures was great. It will be like getting a new car when all done. Congratulations. It is nice to see others putting the money into making these 3X8s young again.
Hi all, thank you for all your warm words. It's good to see that many people agree with me that a 328 is on the right way to become a classic car. Unfortunately not my family but that's o.k. The final goal is the original Ferrari classiche certificate when all restaurations have been finished in 2015. Concerning the questions about technic i have to pass it forward to Robert Fehr - he is doing the single tasks and is well known in Germany for Ferrari and Lamborghini. As soon as I get new pic - next will be the montage of the engine - complete painting work i will put it directly to this thread and the foto book on picasa. I'm sorry not to put all pic right to this thread but over 200 pics are to much
Hi Uwe, glad to see you back on Fchat Good luck with the restoration, looking forward to the pictures and updates.
Hi Uwe!! Long time no see Hey...Herr Fehr. Remember taking my 328 there with Wolfgang ten years ago? Good man - he does great work! Your pictures look excellent - I look forward to following progress. I still have my baby: Insurance Shoot 2011 - a set on Flickr Almost time for an Andermatt reunion ;-) That was a great trip. Cheers, MAlfaRK
Uwe, Well done, nice effort. Not many are thinking about restoring these cars yet. If I'm honest, you're making me feel my years! There is an article in Feb 2013 issue of Forza detailing a 308 restoration. Car looks amazing and I hope yours will as well. I love my 328, especially being able to drive it hard. Keep us updated on progress.
Wow Simon, Mark, Eugenio... I REALLY missed you and I'm astonished as you are so long term active members here in FChat An "Andermatt-Reunion" would be a really great approach for the next year I see that Ton is an active member, too... I hope he will read my thread, too... Wolfgang is driving a Lamborghini Diablo VT and so I assume he's not as active as you guys @Mark: I still remember when I picked you up at the airport in Frankfurt and I drove you to Robert Fehr. The bottle you've spent is alway in the bar and remind me to that really great time with all of you. Unbelievable - it's 10 years ago? I can't believe... I will keep you informed about the progress of restauration. Best to all of you and a good time to you....
Hey Mark, I just had a look to the pics of your beauty. When I see the interieur I see what I've made wrong ... Next year the restauration of the interieur will start. I want to have the original color of the interieur back...

Hi Uwe, Great job on the 328. I am looking forward to seeing it after the restoration. Are you replacing the exhaust by something a little bit less loud? Ton
