Quite simply: I'm in awe!
Have you tried using course thread? I have seen some modelers using this type of thread and it works well for this scale. They sometimes coat it will something to give it stiffness in order to shape it correctly. Good luck and keep up the nice work.
I'm loving watching this, please keep posting with pictures! Yes I also have this kit, built way back when I knew nothing about these cars, so I've dissambled it and will try to rebuild it someday, with tips from you! Thanks!!!
With all this incredible attention to detail, have you every given thought to creating from scratch a more accurate body, or modifying this body to be more accurate. Not that's it's your fault at all, but the proportions being so off just drives me crazy. Amazing work you do.
Thanks for the comments! The metal parts such as the trumpets are purchased items. They are machined aluminum. These were made for a different kit (250 GTO, I think). If you look close you can see a flat edge where they come together, but I mounted this facing down. They were closest in appearance that I found to the Countach parts. The shape of the body in this kit is bothersome, but I don't have the skills to correct it. It isn't nearly as noticeable when the model is right in front of you, especially with the doors open. I read somewhere that the original manufacturer of this kit was loaned a yellow LP400, but had to return the car before the body was finished. Not sure if that's true or not. Considering how detailed the rest of the kit is, its a shame they didn't get the body down exact. I guess I have to live with it!
Engine finished up & mounted into the chassis. Plumbed but still needs wiring & finishing up... These pictures don't really capture the true look & colors. It does look better in person... Kyosho has come out with a 1/12 Countach that looks fairly accurate. Can that model and your kit be combined to make one "super model?"

The Koyosho die casts are pretty nice. Some people like using die cast cars & adding detail or customizing, but I've never looked into it.
Rear suspension & brakes assembled. The kit only has the inner half of the brake calipers, so I used some spare parts to add the outer halves. Camera flash really seems to exaggerate the colors... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
i have one of these kits in my basement for about 25 years now. unbuilt except for the motor which i barely started . Nothing is missing .I would love to see it go the right home . Any takers just let me know Gary Espada 8394
These kits bring about $100 on eBay. It's my favorite kit & I have several already otherwise I'd be interested. I could always use spare parts, but I'd hate to break up a complete kit that way
Interior finished. Hard to get decent pics... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Thanks! It was a challenge getting the colors & finishes to look satisfactory. Now I need to get some paint for the body. Thanks again for the formula!
Having a hard time getting Rame Colorado paint. Was told that ppg code LAM 0024 is only available in the U.S. as a water based paint & can't be put into a spray can. Local supplier uses DuPont & does not have a cross ref number. The formula I have didn't mean anything to him. Any ideas?
What about getting the water based paint, and use an airbrush? Will give better result in the end too because of the refined spray (nozzle). Make sure the supplier replaces the 'normal' metallic particles with the finest available, for a more natural look on your model. Maybe I could get it here (in EU), but I guess shipping a spray can to the US will be a problem ... anyway, I have a partially used can at home ... original PPG paint.... I got it from autolak kopen bij de specialist/groothandel The Color store, goedkoopst in autolakken - The Color store maybe they can help you, maybe they have experience with shipping...
