We're just gonna have to beg to differ here. Which is fine of course. Again, if you feel the sport is that corrupt I fail to see why you follow it. Cheers, Ian
I wonder too, and to be honest I rarely watch it anymore. I will hardly watch it this year but 2014 sounds interesting for the gearhead in me with the new engines. I'd be lucky if I watch 2 races a year now. Pete
Other than being caught and disqualified for cheating in '82 at San Marino I'd love to have a recording of him explaining to the officials exactly why he needed 25 odd Kgs of extra fluid to cool his cars brakes - which was of course added after the race
I do indeed, attached properly to the car and measured correctly (with the correct instruments) they were perfectly legal as the FiA court upheld. Examples please? The time that comes to my mind of a team winning a championship because of a dubious intervention is 1976 when McLaren were gifted the WDC by having their Spanish disqualification overturned.
Gentlemen, As for France, the broadcast by Canal + is not exactly "Pay per view" for Formula One. You have to buy a subscription to the whole "Canal +" package, it broadcasts mainly Cinema - movies - and some sport, and is actually for several channels. That subscription costs 29,90 euros per month the first year (discounted) and then 39,90 euros per month the following years. You also need to have an additional box under your screen, with associated cables, etc... this device is for "un-encrypting" their broadcast, as it is encrypted to guarantee that is is not seen by non-paying viewers. Most people I have discussed the topic with would have been ready to have a real "pay-per-view" for Formula One only, let's says about 10 euros per Grand Prix week-end, (i.e: a "Formula One" only) but most of them say that they are not ready to buy a full subscription to the complete package service, as they have no use for the rest of the programs, and won't "tie their hands" to a TV company through a subscription. I think that Formula One audiences will indeed diminish more... Rgds
****, I pay more than that (converted, around 70 euros a month) for absolute dog **** TV. We get the BBC feed but no pre or after show. We get some decent south african commentators for that but they don't really go into nearly as much detail as you get from Sky. No 3D either. Porsche supercup shows a week or 2 later, GP2 and GP3 we get but sometimes other programs just interfere it and it simply won't play. The only decent and detailed TV show we have is rugby (and allegedly cricket, but I'd rather commit suicide than watch a full game off that).
Exactly. I still haven't a clue what is happening. Tickle, trailers would even be nice, but big vacuum in any F1 for 2013. Makes me wish, sadly, even Fox coverage were back.
Ahh, the great "water cooled brakes" scandal!..... IIRC (and I may not!), Ken Tyrell was the first with that little "twist", not Bernie. The rules at the time said something like "you can replenish any fluids to the level at which you started the race". There were big puddles on the grid and down to the first turn. They all (at least Tyrell & Bernie) knew they were going to get thrown out, but were making a point similar to Ferrari's silly "dual wing" thing. He also pulled the fan car prior to that getting banned also. No different to what they're doing today; Pushing the boundaries. Just that today the rules have (almost) "seen it all" (unfortunately ) Cheers, Ian
OK, thanks for that. Price wise (about $40 / month then $50) I'd say that's comparable with what we pay here in the States and indeed Sky in the UK. Difference with both of course is the subscription is for a "Sports Package", not movies. [Those cost yet more BTW!] *If* they enhance value like Sky is doing I think that's reasonable. OTOH, I know some who won't pay, often simply on principle. It's still free to air in the rest of Europe, right? [Germany, Italy, Spain being the big ones I guess?] Cheers, Ian
Hmmm.... Fox, Speed, ESPN back in the day, etc, none of 'em have exactly "promoted" their coverage. And we do have almost a month still to go. I remain hopeful they'll promote it some as it gets closer. As long as they cover all sessions live I'll be reasonably happy. Cheers, Ian
