That is the only time I saw it and I never, ever, EVER forgot it. I was a 15 year old rising star in the 308 obsession world and it made an impression on me like nothing else, probably because I never saw it again.

I mentioned this earlier; about 10 years ago I started buying VHS tapes from ebay of that superbowl just to try and find it again. I had no luck. Either they were incomplete or the commercials were clipped out. I bought several, then gave up - although I still have a saved search on it to this very day. About 5 years ago a friend over in Atlanta sent me a tape of the 88 Indy 500 with the 328/TR commercial and as cool as I thought that was I was disappointed because I knew that was not the one. Then I started to wonder if I had even ever saw the damn thing - maybe my mind was glossing over the 328 one and turning it into an event that never happened. Only thing was I could still clearly see a foggy mountain something and a 308 - and ONLY a 308 - drive up. And I remember talking about it in high school and I was half way through college in 88 so none of this was adding up. I knew it still had to be out there somewhere.

Then I saw this last night. Man, that is a thrill people don't usually get to have. This is right up there with finding that very first 308 I ever saw in 1981 up in Canada back last year.

    I love this website! :D

Well spotted. They must have used a UK car for the Enzo shot.

But the car along the road has rectangular side flashers. I can't tell if the driver is on the left or right in that sequence. Almost certainly two different cars here from two different shoots.

Enzo looks pretty good in those pictures/commercials, considering he died a few years later in 1988. Also, Happy Birthday to Enzo (February 18, 1898)!

    Hi Larry,

I'm sending this to further the discussion about the sale of a quantity of 16x20 prints of my photograph of Enzo Ferrari.

As I've explained, my web site is not configured for retail sales -- it's designed to service editorial outlets, delivering images for use in print and online publications.

On the subject of print sales, I have a number of reservations.

First, and most importantly, is the problem of unauthorized copying and duplication of my photographs. This has been a significant problem, and prints will be sold for personal use only, with no reproduction allowed.

Countless numbers of people have copied my photos from online publications, removed my copyright information, and then claimed those photos as their own. For this reason, any prints that I sell will carry an obvious copyright notification. Some people object to this, but I won't sell a print without the copyright notice. I have attached a lo-res image of Gilles Villeneuve with a sample of the copyright notice that would be included on the Enzo Ferrari prints. The text would be a gray color on the Ferrari prints, positioned in a lower corner.

Regarding pricing, I'll use the Klemantaski Collection and Pete Lyons as reference points. The Klemantaski Collection charges $150 for 16x20 prints, and Pete Lyons charges $175 for any of the images in their collections.

The picture of Ferrari was taken in December, 1987, and is believed to be the last time he was photographed with his cars. He became ill shortly afterwards, and never recovered. Considering the extraordinary circumstances of the photo, I would set a price at least equal to those established by the Klemantaski Collection and Pete Lyons.

I understand that everyone may not be agreeable to these items, and will ask that you review them with your group and contact me afterwards to finalize the number of prints, terms of payment, shipping information, etc.

    Thanks again for your interest,

    Bob Harmeyer

The copyright print size seem a bit large. I think perhaps the price is a high also.(however, I do appreciate the market price)
If anyone would still like a copy of the Enzo print I will proceed.

I do not have a problem with the price, however I do agree that the copyright font is a bit large. Do you think there's any possibility of negotiating a smaller font size?

He seems quite adamant about the font size. no harm in asking though.

Yeah, frankly, any copyright text outside of around 1/2" from the edge is a deal breaker for me. Totally ruins the image. :(

When you buy a poster of something, the copyright is never within the body of the image. Maybe he can present a mock up to show what he is thinking.

I can live with the price.

I think this guy has just lost well over $1,000 of sales.

I know quite a few professional photographers, many edging towards the twilight of their careers. So I completely understand the guy's worry about copyright. My friends have heated debates about it all the time.

But there are better ways of dealing with it. The notice across the image on an exhibition quality like that is COMPLETELY unacceptable. He is losing many sales to a valuable audience he should be trusting.

Any copyright notice should be placed elegantly and discretely in the image. As copyright owner, he can chase down any abuse of copyright he finds. There are also ways of cleverly incorporating copyright info into the image itself (not watermarking but invisible algorithms).

You are so right - my wife and I had a discussion this morning about party places (my child is having a birthday soon) - how many don't call you back or have spotty service. It boggles the mind how bad the customer service is out there across all these businesses...

I realize this guy is a photographer, but you hit the nail on the head - he lost over $1,000 over something silly (at least in my mind - perhaps he really doesn't care).

It seems the concensus is a big no. I'll give Bob the news that he just lost the sale of 20 prints. If anyone is still interested, please contact Bob at his website.

Tommy, I think you got the deal of century at $5 a pop

Is he proposing that I spend $175 on this??? I wouldn't pay $1 for this, but put his copy right on a lower corner and I'm fine with it.

Ragtop1, Thank you for all your effort, price was alittle much but I could live with it, look what some paid for a folding key. LOL. Just can't get past the placement of Bobs copyright. Not one of the smartest moves IMHO
