Hi Mark, The 1/12th Jaguar is still on hold. I hope they do more kits in 1/12th or larger someday.

    This one is so beautiful.....

since about a year I'm working on a 860 Monza in scale 1/24:
Body by resilient resins, chassis and minor parts from a Hasegawa 250TR.

But I still have a long way to go until it will look like a 860 Monza....

Classic Museum Models is now doing a Ferrari 512M 1971 in 1/12th scale. The body looks very good. It does not look like the Modellismo Leonardo kit in the photos, unless they modified everything!! Kit looks nice as a base to make a good model although the engine bay might be to simple. That all shows on the real car from the back. I will have to buy one to see how well done it is.

This Classic Museum 911 RSR Martini Lemans 1974 model in 1/12th also looks nice, but that was already announced before. They need to work on the front end a little more.

The CMM kits I'm working on are all for the most part done well. The precision of their molds is astounding. However they do take short cuts with leaving details off. The thing that irks me the most are the donut tires: wheels and tires are one piece of cast resin, very difficult to make that look realistic

I'm currently working on their 2012 F1 Ferrari and it has become basically an exercise in kit bashing and scratch building.

Agree with you 100% on that and they are a good base and also no one else will ever make alot of these cars. This 512M is patterned after the Fisher 1/24th body that I sold them a few months ago on ebay. That has the best model body of the car in any scale so that explains why their 1/12th 512M looks so good. Just an FYI for the 1/24th scale guys, the Hiro 512M body is not very good. Compare pictures of the real car if you don't believe me. The Hiro chassis is full detail and pretty good.

    Interesting comment.

My feeling is that they take an existing model, scan it, scale it up and then print it in 3D to make the molds. Your comment seems to support that theory.

Nothing wrong with that, but for me the only explanation how they can come out with so many models in such a short time. I'm glad they're doing this. :) Some IP lawyers might think differently...

Interesting.... I believe the future for model building is that you're not able to buy kits in boxes anymore from hobby shops but instead you're able to buy model cars, planes, ships, etc in an electronic scan format from a model supplier and then be able to print the model from a 3D printer on your end... only time will tell if this realistic or not.... Stay tuned!

    I hope you're right.

Scale is a problem that has been killing me for as long as I can think. Scale means everything to me and when you're as obsessed over it as I am, then it really is tough to see the model of your dreams come out but in the wrong scale.

Niko the modeler who does all the Ferrari kits for Airtrax says his 1/24th scale Ferrari 500 Superfast should be done soon. We have some very early pictures of the master a few pages back. This is a must have Ferrari kit!!

FPP Porsche 804 kit in 1/24th scale. Looks very nice. FPP has good to very good kits as Fernando Pinto the maker has a good eye at making masters. The casting quality is also very good. If you are looking for a box of machined parts FPP does not offer that. If you want a well made kit with correctly shaped body and nice detail parts and a few photoetch/machined parts FPP will give you what you want. In the end their kits will look more like the car than let's say a Hiro kit produced by a robot. The FPP Ferrari 166MM is a perfect example. The Hiro body looks wrong and the FPP body captures the shape very well and looks like the car along with having seats that look correct. Only problem is the FPP 166MM kit does not have a motor and Hiro does. Try Ebay for FPP kits under 1/24th F1.

Next up may be the Vanwall VW5.

Looks great. Does anybody know if Classic Museum Models have any site/web page? This 512 M looks stunning in 1/12.

    Thanks in advance.

They do have a website under construction but they only sell on ebay. Look up Ferrari 512M 1/12th on ebay.

Interesting 1/24th resin bodies from Ditech-Produktion. They are only bodies and glass but the quality is good as the bodies look like the cars. You will have to make the chassis so not for the weak!! The new Maserati and Bentley GT3's are pretty good.

interesting idea, many modelers at that level will want to scratch build, or simply make a nice looking curbside

curious to not have wheels/tires as part of the package? still $100 is a bit steep for just the shell & clear parts IMO

hard to tell quality from the smallish photos, but nice they are thinner than typical small maker bodies

He also lists them on ebay for less depending on how many bids they get.

He goes under di-tech. Nothing listed now but check under Bentley or Maserati 1/24th scale since he always lists those bodies.
