You can't compare Ferrari build quality to the cars HP makes. His cars build quality and their
attention to detail stand alone.

They might not be your taste but they are Totally amazing. I'm not surprised
LH ordered one even while he was at McLaren.

918 - Cool car with tech gadgets that could be outdated soon, since interest in hybrid tech & batteries development is currently enormous. Design is great & timeless! Option list is just ridiculous.

F150 - True hyper car, wet dream for all Ferrari collectors. No further comments, since we dont have actual data about this beast.

P1 - Generic design + generic engine sound + tech inspired interior = Win for automotive geeks.

Huayra - Very special car, but I would wait for few years to make order. First Zonda produced 394 HP, last 760 HP, same goes with design improvements. So I expect same progress with Huayra - a lot of visual & mechanical changes in coming years!

 

Based on what we know today, the choice is easy:

P-1.
Pagani.

Hope Ferrari delivers. Until then, I am reserving my opinion.

I have driven an F-40 many times. Every time I get out of the car, I think of how amazing it is. Thinking about my last drive in an F-40, which was over 3 years ago, I am smiling right now.

The F-40 is like a drug. Once you are in it, all of your senses are heightened. You feel adrenaline (and you hear that engine). I know that the clock-watchers among us will tell me it is not the fastest car in acceleration, but it sure as hell feels like it. And, it really sounds like it.

 

LOL I have a name for Prius drivers but I won't say it so as not to offend any "closet" Prius owners on this forum.

 

My point was that Pagani might put huge attention to detail, brush everything up etc etc but they are not using superior materials to other hypercar manufacturers. As I am sure you are aware of, the F150 will use some carbon materials that are banned even in F1 and the tub will be build in the F1 Scuderia department using the F1 Autoclaves. Perhaps the interior won't be as posh (hopefully it will be stripped out) and the panel gaps may be larger, but are these things that important in a machine that is supposed to stir your soul? Design, sound, performance and driving experience (in no particular order) are more important in my humble opinion. If it's build quality* you are after you might as well buy a Rolls Royce...

*We should really put a definition on that term one day. Does it mean mechanical integrity? Does it mean durability? Does it mean craftmanship? Does it mean tactile feeling?

Not really. He owns a Ferrari, a Porsche and a Rolls Royce amongst others. Just not his cup of tea.

I too am more biased towards newer and N/A cars. In a track session, I prefered the feeling of the 458 to be honest. More of a linear and clever machine.

 

If you feel comfortable buying a car "made" by Hennessey, go right ahead.

 

RR build quality is way beyond Ferrari's and a Bentley CGT's is way beyond a
an FF's but the one's my Friend HP builds are far beyond those.

One should always buy what speaks to them. My Wife had no interest in an FF and Loves her Bentley.

As for me at this point I build what I want but answered honestly in this thread as to
the order that these 4 speak to me.

Personally I find the nose funky and one detail strange, the side good, and
the rear very P 4/5. I believe around a track P1 will be faster and as I drive my
road cars on tracks that matters to me. I've also come to love high downforce
cars which P 1 is. DRS would interest me especially driver controllable DRS.
I want driver controllable KERS as well which F70 won't have.

As of now without seeing the Ferrari I will go Huayra first. As stated earlier I would wait for the later models too though. It may be down on HP but that is plenty for me. The finish of the car and build quality is what draws me to it. I feel Pagani is doing amazing things for a company of his size in the midde of the big dogs.

I agree, Pagani is just something else! Nothing matches his build quality and details obsession, makes Bugatti look like Audi...
Imagine what that gentleman would be capable of with double budget... Still totally unbelivable what he's creating with his family owned business, I'm deeply fascinated and inspired.

 

I too find HP (from what I have read) an inspirational car builder - one of a kind in a generation. I wish he sourced the engine for the Huayra from an Italian manufacturer, though!

 

I doubt they would supply a rival with an engine, but I could be wrong. Plus, they probably don't have the resources to build a new engine simply to supply someone else and not use it in one of their own cars.

 

HP's engine choice is because of his friendship with his fellow countryman Fangio.

 

That's WAY cool.

 

I don't mind the AMG engines. The Fangio link is romantic, the engines are specifically tuned for Pagani's cars and they made the right noise in the misc. Zondas...

Ferrari is still cool, but with their ever increasing production numbers, the marque is losing its mystique day by day.

Don't know enough about the cars to say anything other than I wouldn't buy the Mclaren. I just don't like it. I felt the same way about the Ferrari 360 when it first came out, but I like it now so my tastes could change. I also felt the same way about the Veyron when it was launched, but I still feel the same way so they may not.

Of the three we know the looks of, I like the Porsche the best, very good looking car. The Pagani is also nice but the interior is way overwrought and gaudy. I think the Mclaren is just ugly, particularly the front.

I don't think we know enough about the performance to make any solid judgements there, so all I can say is the Mclaren won't make my top two unless both the Porsche and Ferrari are total turds.

 

That just seems silly now.
