Hello all, I am think about selling my Platinum Yachtmaster (box, papers, links, excellent condition, etc, etc.). Basically I just don't wear it much anymore and it is just taking up space in my watch box. So I am wondering if anyone knows of reputable dealers that buy used Rolex watches. By reputable I mean that stand by what they say and actually pay! Thanks, Joe
Thanks. Do you have a contact name? (Gray & Sons Jewelers - Fine Used Watches and Estate Jewelry - Rolex, Cartier, Patek Philippe & More)
Why not try to sell it yourself to another member of F Chat, or on another forum like Time Zone? You'll probably get more money and it shouldn't be too hard - that is a nice watch with all the right additional stuff.
Hadn't heard of Time Zone. The reason I hadn't considered selling here was mostly due to the cost of the watch. That is a lot money to expect someone to cough up if they aren't dealing in person. And a lot of money on my end to expect someone to wait while I wait to see if a check clears. (Of course there is always a wire, but you get the point) So I honestly hadn't thought much about it.
Watchuseek.com is another forum where members post their watches for sale, I recently bought an Omega from a user there who had plenty of solid feedback and the transaction went flawlessly.
16622 I am interested PM me what you were looking to get for it. I have a few references here on Fchat and 25 years of being in the watch business.
I can vouch for VTChris. I have bought from him and he bought a Lange from me a while ago and made it crazy easy.
Just so you don't get low-balled, do some homework. 16622 model should net you around $6k on the low side, depending on serial number.
Yes Dom, Let me know condition and what you want for it, I am not a low baller, but I am a dealer, so I will need to make money on it. So if it makes sense for me to buy, I will.
Don't let Obama make you feel bad for wearing a platinum Rolex... Actually, I know several guys who don't like to wear their gold ones anymore.
FWIW, MOST of his watch is actually stainless steel... Why do several guys you know not like to wear their gold ones anymore? I mostly wear my Daytona and my GMT IIc, but on occasion I will pull out my SS/YG Blue Dial Submariner. That's maybe once a month...
One could go to Rolex Forums and look around and post it in the for sale ads. That would be the place I'd go to find out about reputable dealers or otherwise. I'm also a member there.
LOL! Nope that is certainly NOT the reason! I tend to wear my Seamaster a lot more than the Rolex. Actually I am thinking about getting the green Sub instead.
I've had success at Time Zone and eBay. I would also recommend an authorized dealer, especially one with low overhead costs. Matt
