Which is faster? La Ferrari or Bugatti Veyron?

I can't find any good info regarding which is faster: the new La Ferrari or Bugatti Veyron?
The initial specs state that La Ferrari is slower--- disappointing
Does anyone know more about this?

 

Does it matter? Which one would you rather be seen in? Few buyers of these hypercars ever take them up near the 200+ mph available. And many just sit in a garage. I think the total package is more important than fastest or highest HP.

 

LaFerrari's top speed is reputed to be well in excess of 500 MPH.

I just read that the top speed is reported to be 217 mph. So no, it won't beat a Veyron of F1 in top speed. Even without that number you just KNOW it wasn't going to beat those cars. It's going to take a certain car with a dedicated goal of highest top speed in order to best them.

 

Top speed is just one parameter. Which would be faster on any given road or track? Simple answer.

 

A half-mile sprint between the two (ok, add the P1 as well) would be interesting.
I would imagine the 4wd of the Veyron would still provide a slight advantage off the line.

 

The production McLaren F1 was officially claimed to reach 340 km/h. So yes, it is!

On the original subject which is the question? If LaFerrari has a higher top speed than the Bugatti? No it doesn't as this was not the objective; it is probably gear limited somewhere around 370 km/h, as was the case with the Enzo. Is it faster accellerating and quicker round a track though? It sure is!

 

Unlike other models, as the flagship Ferrari, La Ferrari should be faster than the fastest hyper car by any other manufacturers. It does look futuristic, but it's capability must be just as unparalleled.

 

It gets to 186mph 5 seconds faster than a Veyron. That would put the Veyron about 1/4 mile behind at that point. Good luck finding a place you can get either car to it's top speed, but acceleration and track handling LaFerrari will destroy a Veyron.

 

0-300kph normal veyron: 16,7 sec , veyron supersport: 14,6 sec.
how could the lf be 5sec faster?

 

For a few weeks now my mind concocted the next Thing: a Veyron limited edition with W16 norm aspirated, at about 800HP, RW drive and much lighter with all luxury equipment thrown out of the car. Maybe that will beat the F70.

 

It doesn't matter the top speed but the whole package. Let's compare a Veyron with a La Ferrari in a racing track and see the results (disappointment for Veyron fans). My impression is that almost none of the Veyron owners have ever tried to find out the top speed of their car..so top speed is something only for magazine freaks!

 

I wouldn't pity those owners, maybe they didn't reach 400km/h but speeds above 250... with ease just about every stretch of road they were on.

 

This imaginary Veyron would still be less powerful and heavier than LaFerrari, so no!

 

It might be faster, cause of the higher torque, but who knows maybe the short stroke pistons of the W16 would not make such high torque.

Road and track got 19.8, no test I've seen put it below 19s. Super Sport 16.1s.

 

Yes it's really great thing to be able to move with more than 250km/h in the road but if you think it better you will see that Veyron is a one million euros dragster.. I really like the SS but i personally haven't seen a Veyron in a racing track try to make some interesting lap times.. I'm talking purely from a technical perspective.
