    Hi guys!

I am about to change the clutch on my F355 and will use the Hill engineering release bearing. When I look at he websites that sell them it says that if you have the early support flange then you have to upgrade to the later type flange to be able to fit the release bearing. Does anyone here know if you can find out if you have the early or the later flange without taking the clutch apart first? My car is a Motronic 2,7 so one of the earlier cars.

    Replace both.

The flanges have been known to fail as well.

What actually fails on the flange?

I did one on a 95 355 and it worked just fine like you could see the spring are not perfectly straight but don't leak and works great. The flange on this one was in great shape no scuff marks on it the only thing the springs don't aline

Perfect advice. I did the same when I replaced my release bearing. You have the clutch apart anyway, so why not do it.

I did the same job a few years ago with Hill Engineering parts. It was quite easy as the clutch is in the rear end of the gearbox and worked really fine since then.
