2 different subjective styles. Plain no CF is elegant and conservative, classic look. CF is racy and make the car looks wider and lower.
CF is about light weight and gaining strength in a part... it has become a cliche' about looking good and being expensive... CF woven fabric can be applied / wrapped over any form / part for appearances...it has the look, but no weight savings or gain in strength... true CF parts are much lighter, so if there is NOT any visible weight savings it may be a faux CF look alike...
Everything is relative. A 458 is conservative compare to the 458 Monte Carlo or a FXX. CF trim panel could be a fad, but CF itself is like aluminum and steel, I don't think it is going away anytime soon. Chrome is a surface plating, for appearance only, chrome will always apply to luxury cars. CF is used to form solid structural part, it just can be made thin enough for cosmetic trimming. More and more future cars will have carbon fiber monocoque and body panel as the cost of manufacturing decreases. Until we find the next lightweight material.
for my first Ferrari I went with the CF back panel on the spyder. It is absolutely awesome. Get many kudos for the CF piece there. Only other CF for me was on the steering wheels, paddles, tach, LED combo. I also have the red seat bets on the tan interior with red piping, stitching and inserts. Also fantastic. Makes the whole interior POP!! The red seat belts on a white shirt look great. That's my dad in the car. He was the first person to get the ride the same day I picked it up. Proud papa!! Ultimately carbon nanotubes Carbon nanotube - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia With these you won't have to blast off to orbit; just ride an elevator on a cable of carbon nanotubes.
I'm on the fence when it comes to the CF rear, sometimes I like it, sometimes not so much. I DO like red seat belts with a black interior though! As GRZEPAPA said, it makes the interior pop! =) (I never knew people was worried that the seat belts would clash with their clothes.. maybe I need to step up my fashion game) =)
That is why some people owns the exact same car in multiple colors, it makes it easier to match the color of the clothes they are wearing that day
When in doubt Leave it out. Seems like a no-brainer. Why spend the money and then worry you may not like it. Pretty sure you could add it later if you find you just have to have it. And you could always try a wrap and see how you like that. Since a good number on here do not like it chances are you may not either. Spend your money on the things you really really want. good luck and may the horse be with you.
I like the looks of a full black rear but the CF piece doesn't do it for me, it still has too much contrast with the actual grille at the sides, because of the colour and most of all because of the glossy look. Read from this that I would love a full grille (mesh), that would be the right thing. Wonder if they will do it at least in the 458 "Scud". So if I was to own a 458 I would probably try a matt black wrap there in order to minimize contrast with the grille.
I guess you found the glossiest angle for that matt CF Anymore pictures? Is this factory ordered or aftermarket?
i think i am in the camp that would like to see the mesh all the way across, ie no panel carbon or body coloured in the middle...think that would look great Would like to see some more pics of the matt one above, not taken at the best angle so its hard to get a feel for it thanks
OK, I saw you picture thread. Wonderful! But I still think the matt CF rear should visually blend more with the grille mesh. Maybe if it was actually matt black? I see it more like matt grey. Lighting also makes a difference as always.
