This is a rotten story, with the loss of a 5 person medical team. Turns out I've flown with one of the surviving pilots, as he was the original pilot that helped teach Julie how to fly about two years ago. I cannot imagine what the families and surviving pilots are going through right now. This pilot was just awesome, and a joy for her to learn from. Always helpful, and loved, just loved aviation.

It is an evolving story, told by one of the operators at KAND with first hand knowledge, but still hearsay. Turns out a decision was made to do a go around. I am told the aircraft is fly-by-wire, and the surviving pilots have indicated the computers overrode their efforts to pull up-although they had enough speed to climb. The computer supposedly kept the nose pushed down for more airspeed, and they hit a light pole or some sort of utility tower with the tip of the wing at 60ft off the deck and about a mile from the airport.

The cockpit broke off just behind the pilots, saving them. Our friend was beat up, but otherwise walked out. The other pilot has multiple fractures. The others were sitting on the fuel in the rest of the plane, and were consumed by fire.

The black boxes cannot be found, and I was told the company that maintained the aircraft were not cooperating-again just hearsay. The FBI has been called in to investigate, and there is speculation by some that the black boxes were not in the plane. All hearsay from a trusted source that is supposed to know. We will see how this plays out. But one thing is for sure, it is a tragic event that may have began with a too hot approach, deer on the field, or who knows that resulted in a decision to abort the landing.

I don't believe the Premier is fly-by-wire. It has an electronic ECU that is very simple, so full power should have been available.

If it was operated under 135, it would have had FDR and CVR black boxes. I would discount any hearsay as just that.
