What I find a bit disappointing is the way the official factory pictures are always heavily photoshopped. One thing that stands out is how the wheels completely fill the wheel wells whereas in real life this is certainly not the case. I can imagine doing this with a mundane car, but is it really necessary with an iconic car like this?

Was at the unveiling. Massive crowd of people. Fortunately, in the evening there crowd was gone and I could chill a bit on the Ferrari stand. What is there to say? The car is gorgeous. Really. And doesn't feel massive despite the fact it is quite a big vehicle.
Would be interesting to see the LF and the Enzo side by side. Also Ferrari Enzo Ferrari is replaced by Ferrari LaFerrari, but nobody is going to call it Ferrari, La. Sorry for the pics, ipad quality.

It sure does. Loved the car seeing it in the flesh for the first time and everytime you discover something new about the design.

LaF is actually a little narrower and quite a bit lower than the Enzo.

I was surprised to see contrasting piping on the seats. That seems like something from the 80s. Maybe a renewed fashion??

Yesterday talking at the dealer about the name LF/F70, again

Could it be that the first ever production build ferrari (incl. design = without help from the outside e.g. pininfarina/bertone ect.) is the first ever, La Ferrari?

If fact not ending an era but just starting one? All new ferrari's will be completely made and designed in Maranello from this day forward?!

In my eyes the only explanation to defect tradition, it is a statement: "La Ferrari!"

If so, Mr Montezemolo's speech could have been used to explain this step more as he did not.

Anyway "F70" or just "LF" sounds better, whats in the name?

IMO that is not so big reason to call a car "La Ferrari". As you can see just few days after unveiling, people are calling it LaF or F70. Its just not natural to call it "La Ferrari".

Agree. Please mods. A lot of people are looking for more info on this car. You currently have to check several duplicate threads!!!

I wonder how they'll have to modify for US market. Doesn't appear that a US style plate will fit on the rear, and the plate light also doesn't appear to meet US DOT standards.

No small issue because this area is a major design element of the rear.

I'll do a blog writeup on this eventually as it's a monumental reveal for Ferrari--a welcomed update, with the Enzo being the long-running masturbation poster "Countach" of its generation finally shown the door (appealing moreover to the over-the-top/mid-engine exotic car tastes versus the V12 GT crowd).

Suffice it to say I'm glad to see they got the Enzo right the 2nd time, giving "Enzo-458 Evoluzione" the front end it can be a bit more proud of (with a more tastefully executed nod to Carlo Chiti that the Enzo's Japanese-laden design overly indulged).

And of course, not everyone will like the newest Ferrari, especially the much awaited sacred cow of the so-called "Enzo replacement." I'm surprised anyone can be satisfied anymore with anything as expectations today (for some culturally induced reason) are often placed in a vaguely stratospheric fantasy place that nobody could possibly live up to and be happy with. Ferrari is damned if they do and damed if they don't--so f@ck it.

The comments and reactions, since the big reveal thus far, are of the predictably highly polarized variety, with the diehard Glickenhaus fanbois voicing disdain over the new car (that they swear is an inferior ripoff of the P4/P5), whilst the LaFerrari welcoming crowd is happy to see the latest Ferrari engineering and design benchmark dethrone the tired Enzo (or timeless depending on your sexual taste).

You can tell where my bias lies so why attempt to be egalitarian. You can't make everyone happy and shouldn't try. But while I don't think this car is the best thing since sliced bread, viva LaFerrari anyway.

There are going to be multiple differences between an 'A' spec car and a 'B' spec car. Actually out of all of the 'Super Ferrari's LaFerrari will be the least changed for the US market.

In terms of dimensions it fits perfectly, since lower part if flat and upper part is pronounced where lights are placed. I have no information about lights regulations in US, so I will not comment that.

I did quick render, take a look: http://i48.tinypic.com/25fhjso.jpg
It would be much appreciated if someone can post my render as attachment.
