    Ferrari? I really doubt that.

I believe universal name recognition would play a large part of any such claim. That being said, several come immediately to mind. In no particular order: Coca Cola, UPS, Microsoft, Shell Oil, Colt Firearms and even Rolls Royce, just to name a few.

Sure, Ferrari enjoys a certain recognizable level, but...

Hmm, Colt and UPS??? Are you serious? Those are US players, and is not worldwide recognizable names. Those lists are often useless and have a heavy US bias.. Putting companies like GE, General Motors and Citi bank above big worldwide consumer brands like Ferrari, BMW, Chanel, Gucci and so forth.

Shell, Coca Cola and brands in that category, yes.. They deserve a top ranking. But Colt, UPS and other US brands that are VERY big in the US, but not that known outside the US - does not belong on a WORLDWIDE brand list.

Everyone in the world can recognize Mercedes-Benz and Coca-Cola so I'd say those are the top two. MB seems to dominate the truck market in all the small countries that I see video footage of. That and Toyota Landcruisers.

As far as international brands... I would say yes to Coca-Cola, Shell, Mercedes-Benz and might even go so far as to say Harley Davidson that to my knowledge is sold in over 60+ countries around the world (I have heard mixed opinions on this though, some people claim they see them everywhere and others say no.). IMO the HD brand is more of an image thing though having been around motorcycles for years they are not built very well again this is just my opinion. As far as an image for a counter culture goes very popular... people in America own HD merchandise without even owning a HD Motorcycle just for image sake. HD is even to this day trying harder to break into European markets.

Didn't really even think of McDonald's. I think MB would be more recognized than McD's down in Africa. I know Russia didn't get its first franchise until recently as well.
