We'll have to see how quick they can set it up really. Costa supposedly made this possible so we'll see. As I've said before though, I believe this system is the future of F1. 4 tenths quicker is massively quick over a full lap let alone just ONE sector.

Testing though, who knows who was backing off through that sector.

Ferrari had one too, and even more vertical looking than the MB.

MB to finish mid-field if car is able to make it through all laps :)

Lotus or Ferrari to take the win!

Not quite, it's unchanged from Barcelona. Photo from today. They did however remove some cooling louvres post their large cooling exit. I suspect they will change this area several times this year.

Looking forward to the start of the *NEW* NBC F1 season tonight (hoping for the best from the peacock network). It seems like the last one just ended, but that's not close to a bad thing (probably just means I'm busier than hell).

It will be fun watching with all of the F-chat regulars. I'm hoping for another close, exciting season with max tire degradation so that we can start singing our chorus of "manufactured results" lol

Seriously, I do want to see a hotly contested campaign that hopefully ends up with Alonso on top at season's end. At the very least, I don't want to see Vettel back up there (nothing against Seb, just don't like dominant cars unless they are rossa corso)

    Thanks. He truly is.

On a different note I read an intersting "Statistic":

In the last five years where a new Pope was elected, the winner of the first race of the season went on to become the WDC.

So we'll see on Sunday who is going to be the new WDC...

Help me with how this should work on the W04. Is that exhaust designed to simply blow on the floor pan? (I'm assuming the answer is a resounding "NO" as I cannot see how that would help aero efficiency in anything but a straight line). I'm certain that I'm missing something by not seeing the open end of the ramp, but they are certainly positioning the exhaust ramp very low in the bodywork.

The idea is to blow a gap between the rear tire and diffuser in the interest of creating an high pressure air skirt around the diffuser side walls. This makes the volume of the diffuser artificially larger thus more efficient. The ramps and tunnels and everything else teams employ are in the interest of directing air to that gap and maintaining as much of that air velocity as possible. The closer to the floor and gap the better. MB and Mclaren have a smallest gaps to their floors with Ferrari's actually being a few cm higher. More airspeed to that gap, more downforce.

From the looks of KIMI's fresh from the off season physique he might be slowing his car down by sheer girth... Too many BIG MACS!!! Ha

The way I see it...more time to be found by other teams ;). Is Mercedes going to be out of tricks by the time Monaco hits again?

Their development pace is terrible relative to the other big dogs.

Even if they're quick out of the box, I'd be willing to bet they are 4-5th by years end. I DO think they will win some races though.

I'm sure that's part of the reason Schumacher called it quits.

Yup. This is the year they need to prove otherwise, unless at some point they simply throw their hands up and go all out for 2014, which I bet at least one large team does this year
