Hey Guys, I have not been in contact due to my business has kept me busy 24/7. I have blown the Engine in my 308. I stuck an Intake valve and shattered a Piston. I am in search of a second engine to buy that will get my Car back on the road while I rebuild my Engine. 1979 308 2V Carbs. Thanks, Dan
Dan, How did you manageto blow your engine like that? LAck of maintenance, track, driving too spiritely on the open road...
I think the intake Valve "floated" and made contact with the piston. I was reving it between 8000-8200 rpms. I drive (or drove) my 308 everyday (hard, as it should be). I was driving to work. It blew chunks of piston up through the weber and into the air filter housing.
Dan, Check with Bill at Gt Car PArts for a spare engine 623-780-2200 if he can't help you then try Kelly's suggestion of Rutlands rebuilt 2 valve engines
Apparently Bill does not want to quote me on an engine. So if anyone knows of an engine for a 308 2V, please let me know. Thanks, Dan
This is not to bash Bill. He just keeps telling me that he will fax me a price for a used engine that he has, and he won't do it. This has been going on since a couple of days after I posted this thread. I still need an engine. Dan

$12k for a used engine with 70K miles on it?? Someone's been sniffing Lambo exhaust fumes again. ferraripartsexchange.com sellers list has someone with a 2 valve injection engine & gearbox for $2K. Or try Lyle himself. He's got cars to part out. 408-364-0881 Sounds like you just want a temporary engine to get you by until you can fix your origional lump.
I think he meant $12K for a wrecked 308 with a good motor. Depending on how bad the damage, you could probably make most of your money back parting it out. Dave
asking price of $12,000 for the car would translate to $10-$11,000 buy price...remove engine and sell the remaining parts...i think one could get at least $6-7000 for the car minus the engine??
