Well put by "the mayor" I remember looking at the "almost a Ferrari " several times it had "Fiat" stamped on the wheels ,and on the engine block and heads! Has anything changed since then ? Are there NEW buyers (investors?) buying them? Looking again I still have not changed my view..

    Some Daytona love here.

Octane have made the article on my car available online

Ferrari 365GTB/4 Daytona Reims drive story

There are factual two mistakes in the article one of which I knew about and one I missed when I proofed it. Wonder who will spot them :)

Good read. Thanks for sharing. Were the mistakes that the Daytona had rack and pinion, not worm and nut steering and was shod with Michelin XWX not XAS tyres?

Daytona does have worm and nut not rack and pinion steering. I'll agree the XAS was a mistake but not the ones I was looking for.

    Wow. What a great article.

I took someone for a ride in my Daytona last week and I was trying to explain what made it such a great car. This article really sums it up well. Thanks for sharing that.

The big error in the article doesn't relate to the Daytona itself!

Ferrari quote 128 litres on their web site. There does seem some variation in quoted tank size for the Daytona and I've never filled mine from empty to check.

The error I missed is the brakes are ATE not Girling. Also the1972 TdF didn't go to Reims Gueux!

Considering time constraints on both myself and Octane's team we wanted a good photo location over historical accuracy.

Sure that annoys some but having a weekend playing in France with the Daytona with someone else paying the fuel bill I wasn't complaining :)

Thanks. I'm sure you're correct. However, there are a number of sites that state that the brakes are Girling. :)

Someone wrote to Octane telling the journalist that the brakes were ATE, when the journalist told me I had to go and double check.

I will no doubt be corrected but I believe Ferrari moved from Girling to ATE brakes in 69.

Perhaps the misinformation about the Girling brakes originates from the famous 1971 Autocar test which states that the Daytona is so equipped?
