I am considering replacing my door sills and have looked at the sills that Carbonio and Nouvalari offer. I am not sure how "aftermarket" looking I want them to be.

Does anyone have pictures of the OEM, CF sills that were on the Fiorano or that may have been added? Please post if you do.

Please post pictures of your 355 sills that have been changed /modified from OEM for comparison purposes. Thank you

I replaced OEM sills with CF door sills and the SS insert.

Not a huge fan of CF all over the place, but these sills and the CF paddles made a great improvement in looks.

I'll post pictures later when I have access to them.

Thank you Watson. Are they Carbonio sills? Whose inserts? I agree with you on the CF overdo thing, but the thresholds of the stock install can definitely be enhanced, IMO. It is expansive and monochromtic. Ill put up some of the pics of the options I have come across, preinstalled, as well

ThanksDave. I wonder if that Ferrari insert is encased in the lacquer coating or is like the rubber OEM on mine.

Novalari's is close to that. The Ferrari is Kevlar. I have to find the pic

Here are the Fioranos OEM CF with what looks like an aluminum insert that is separate and not resin covered. I think

I have a proposal from someone to make something like this for the inserts. The aluminum would be black anodized and then the top of the letters would be polished off.

    That looks pretty bad-ass!!!!

Erick got some sill inserts with the raised lettering that were also very nice, perhaps he could chime in with some pics

However, I think a one-piece solution could also be very good such as the Nouvalari option.

YOu Think? Im not so sure. The Logo is just a decal laid on top of the kevlar and resined in. Not something as unique as the etched SS or the milled aluminum.

    To much thinking....

True, but a nice smooth surface won't collect a bunch of crap like machined letters may...

I really think I like the aluminum / stainless better than carbon - I always wonder if carbon will look silly when it goes out of style...

I think CF is more of a technological advancement than a trend. I'm pretty sure it's here to stay...

Being that they are on the Fiorano I am comfortable with the CF/Aluminum look. If you look at the Fiornao pics , the aluminum is understated and I cant see if you can see the CF pattern in the black area. I would assume you could.

I reckon those Carbonio carbon fibre door sills would look okay without the Ferrari name insert.

Does anyone have a pic ?

They have a groove molded in for the insert so it may look a little strange to just leave it as is with the empty groove.

I have a set on order/coming from Nouvalari. I went for Black Carbon Fiber/rectangular Red Carbon fiber INLAY with the Black Ferrari lettering, integrated within the Red Carbon Fiber Inlay. I also added the Full carbon fiber airbox with a 4" Chrome Cavallino for engine bay "Eye Candy" & some weight reduction. The guys at Nouvalari are great & have group buys on these products for FChat members. I will add a picture from Nouvalari (Glenn's personal car with the Carbon Fiber Sills) now & post another picture once mine arrive.

I have had my Carbonio carbon fiber sills for a couple months now although I had not yet installed them. So tonight I get them out and start fitting the aluminum insert into the recessed area only to discover they don't fit properly. The recessed area is not as big (long) as the factory ones I confirmed this by putting the aluminum insert into the recessed area of the factory sill with no problem and then trying it with the Carbonio and it does not fit. I then took the factory rubber insert and placed it on the Carbonio sill with the same results "does not fit." I know that fchater treedee3d had similar problems with his Carbonio sills and another aluminum insert although at the time I think he thought the insert was the wrong size and now it looks like it's the Carbonio sill plates. The recessed area seems to be about 1/8 - 1/4" to short. When I ordered my sills I was told they took the mold off the factory sill plates so once again it looks like ferrari has had some varying degrees of parts.
Just for notes my car is a 99 so maybe at some point Ferrari switched manufacture or the manufacture switched tooling either way there seems to be some differences. Now I am going to have to have my aluminum inserts cut down.

Erick that stinks as I just ordered the carbonio sills and am going to work with the same person that did your insert to make mine. I haven't decided and how it is going to look yet

I'll do a tracing of the insert area though and send it to him first. Sorry to hear of your problems

I can tell you for a fact that the aluminum inserts are an exact match for the size of the factory rubber insert from my 99. I can also tell you that both the rubber and aluminum inserts fit perfectly in the factory metal door sill plates that I have from my 99.
I can also say that neither the rubber nor the aluminum inserts fit the Carbonio sills that I purchased a couple months ago.
What I cannot say for a fact is that Ferrari didn't change the plates or inserts slightly over the years.

I'm not trying to discredit anyone I'm just saying there is a difference.

Im going to let Mark at Carbonio see this thread as they need to be aware of this if it is standard sizing problem. I was going to put my oem rubber inserts in until I decided what I wanted to do custom wise.

    Erick, thanks for the info...

Until today I always assumed that the Carbonio groove was correct and that my carztuff sills were made too large but it looks like the Carbonio groove is too small.

Carbonio should offer their own set of inserts and sell it as a kit or should partner up with some of the guys making sills so they can standardize their sizes.

Right now it looks like they're not talking to each other and the consumers (us) are getting stuck with the sizing issue.

I really wish Carbonio would chime in this thread because the sills they make are terrific and this may hurt sales...
