No need to be a smartass because you missed the humor intended or to be judgemental of ones job . It could be your car that I keep from getting keyed from the person inside the club you just had words with, food for thought .
I always do, sorry ! (I'm kinda partial to people trying to keep me on my toes anyway). Anyway I had to postpone getting my finger prints done for another week because I am still not adjusted to working the graveyard shift as 4 days are normal hours and the other three are work, its crazy I tell ya! Once I get that taken care of they go to DPS and hopefully I will not have to wait very long for my state ID. Once I get that I can start working armed security which pays more and hopefully I will be placed at a dayshift post, I need a bank gig. Anywho sorry again for the misunderstanding as actually I was the smartass. Have a great weekend, Gregg
I am confused how a security guard is on call 24/7, I think that was just a manipulation technique to get you to cover. There are alot of janky security guard companies out there, the one at my office building is professional but there are some that work at one of my friends clubs and game rooms(slot machine rooms)that have no business securing an open empty mailbox. I have a few friends that work for HCSO and go out drinking several nights a week. They started in the jail but are now patrol and I dont think they are even on call 24/7. There is no way you can be a single guy partying in your mid-late 20's as they are and be expected to be sober and on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
I've got 6 maintenance techs that rotate weekends on call for my properties, in our maintenance division. It's pretty simple - if you don't answer the emergency call that is grounds for dismissal, if you are intoxicated and can't find an immediate replacement that is grounds for dismissal. They get double time and in 15 years we've never had a problem to MY knowledge which is the way I like it. Good luck I really hope this works out for you.
Thanks. What I find alittle odd is that a security officer is required to present their state ID card when asked and I still do not have one, maybe it is just for armed security officers? I am going to contact DPS tomorrow and get the straight 'poop'. I can say one thing though this graveyard shift stuff is what I told the owner I do not/will not work when I first interviewed with him last year. I want and need a sweet bank gig if I am going to stick with this security gig but I will have to see how things go after I get that card. Every night around 2-3AM I get frustrated as hell not being able to get on with another PD.
Don't do that to yourself. Just let it go. Life is too short to X about Y. If you tried, you succeeded. via rubber ducky
You are right and I like what I am now doing so all is good. Frank, Too make a long story short I was screwed over by my sheriff but everything happens for a reason and I wanted to get back to Houston. So in way he just sped up the process and I hold no grudges against him and when I saw him after my departure we greeted each other with a handshake and had friendly conversations. I spent all of 2011 and 2012 trying to get on with various depts only to be rejected. On a positive note I just received my first paycheck in two years!!!!!!
Attaway - $ Your summary says a lot. As you well know - Sheriff is more focused on Politics than Policing. That puts Deputies in Sheriff's crosshairs PDQ(!) And without same recourse Police Officers have. In turn, it makes former Deputies harder to hire. via rubber ducky
Glad you understood I meant separate, autocomplete got me I guess. In Houston, don't limit yourself to local, check USA jobs for TSA, CBP ICE etc. The locality pay in Houston with the FEDS is great.
I was reading in Business section of the paper last week about the need for more CBP agents at our airports but with the budget cuts, lack of funding etc etc it seems there may be lay-off's or transfers. I may have gotten some of the info wrong as I do not have the article any more but thank you for reminding me of that potential opportunity.
I figured I would stay with the topic, I'm learning slowly but surely , and felt this may be the best place to talk about todays assignment. I worked an extra shift at a church that unbeknownst to me is not only a church but a school aswell. So anyway we had workers there upgrading a few things and I was asked to make sure the youngsters did not wonder into the work area while the workers went on their lunch break. Oh my god those kids were a complete and utter mess and almost had me in tears from not only laughing but reminding how much I want to be a father. One precious little girl sit's down and then turns around and looks at me with those big eye's and smile and then waves, made my day I tell ya what!
I failed to mention it was MILF CENTRAL and since I look REALLY GOOD in my uniform my phrase for the day was "How you doin"? Sorry I'm slowly but surely adjusting my body clock and napping in the daytime and staying up, asmuch as possible, at night.
