Indeed, what is that her cleaned up and ready to burn some rubber? how'd the 30 year overhaul on it come out? any serious problems? and what is the official name of that cars color as it doesnt look like standard ford Le mans blue (if I'm getting that right?)

Sorry for the daytona fans here if this goes off the rails of its intended subject but I was and still am a cobra fan, that being the holly grail of the cobra's for me. the daytona came afterwards after seeing Don Johnson's replica one in Miami Vice on reruns.

    and it went from there...

and I'm just so glad the rumor about that thing being destroyed in a wreck or being lost in the sands of time werent true.

also there's nothing nicer than a daytona in that shade of blue, be it spyder or coupe, whatever the name of that color is too lol

also on that blue daytona isnt there something missing off of the rear quarter panel? that red reflector or running light thing that they all had above that grove that goes along most of the body?

This is a euro car, so it does not have the side marker lights. USA cars had these lights.
Color is Blu Dino Met. and very nice it is to.

sharp eye, I saw a guardsman blue cobra csx and it was horrible looking to me, after many spray cards of blue shades I settled on ferrari fer 503/c chiaro blu. It just looks right and suits the cars vintage

just to be clear, the original movie cobra is no longer the blue that it was during the movie. it is now a much darker blue...guardsman currently.

the movie car still retains the unique vents recessed into the trailing edge of the bonnet. the car is also vintage raced some and made an appearance at speedfest in coronado last year.

your telling me, I saw the car at laguna seca in 2011 and it was parked at a trailer with the gumball movie poster behind the car. I walked right by car, I took a photo of the poster and the car. The colour is dark blue and it had that horrible roll bar. I would have never change the car from its movie spec.

I think the car was an original street spec cobra.

Was the Daytona the first Ferrari to have the 5 spoke "Star" wheels?

    I thought it was.
Though I am sure there is an anorak out there to put me right.
And since then every new model has followed (I believe, anorak?).
Just another reason you have to LOVE the Daytona.

ATE brakes. Other models, like the BMW Bavaria, used the same caliper halves, just the spacer between the halves is different.

The amount varies a bit depending if you have a Euro vs. USA, Spyder vs. Coupe and Early USA (pre-extended bumpers) and late (extended bumpers) USA cars. The fuel tanks are different. Any mechanic that has seen the various versions of the cars can tell you. I believe there was a previous post about their being 11 different fuel tanks between left & right of the various models listed with the late USA Coupe and Spyder using the same right side fuel tank.

I think you will find Spyder and Coupe fuel tanks are the same size just the neck on the filler side of the tank is different. The Spyders tank neck, has roughly a 30 degree angle on it and the coupe is straight, Euro and USA cars a different for sure.
Pic of new euro coupe tank, that i have spare.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what became of the Daytona that Dan Gurney and Brock Yates ran to win the initial Cannonball?

Sorry about the late reply kinda lost track of things here

the color was changed? Really? hmm I guess with the nose damage it had in the movie that makes sense plus I remember in the scene where they pull up next to that jukebox on wheels the back end did seem kinda scratched up, probably from the camera mounts that might have ground the dirt into the bodywork

So the original cars didnt have that?

Extended bumpers? what is there another visual difference to the later pop up headlights ones besides the headlights?

    what on earth?
