Hi Guys, So 4th gear keeps jumpin out of gear while im drivin down the road have to hold it in there or shell pop out, what should I be looking for worn sync pads?. Cheers in advance
There are actually two of them... and it's often the rear one -- that's quite difficult to get to -- that's the problem. Here's what a worn one looks like: Image Unavailable, Please Login
if engaged when "pops out", it isnt anything to do with the mechanical actuation mechaism that is the shifter, or its components your original guess is far closer to likely suspect-imo... 4th gear is odd if not downright rare...never actually heard of a transaxle with this complaint-old 4 speeds a-la swb/californias /Lussos etc...sure, not rare at all...just worn out gear hubs or operatingsleeves and synchros NOT really likely forks or detent lock springs and balls your car has half of the synchro cone on the hub of the gear, so look carfefully at wear and use "blueing' compound.... unfortuneately, you will neeed to do a "D and I" good luck
