How crucial is it to get a car with the updated steering sensor?
Since it cannot be retro fitted to the earlier cars.

I plan to update all the ECU's to HGTC spec as well as the springs.

    For your data base
VIN 135174 Ass'y 52433 STICK no handling package.
Is that late enough for the steering sensor?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Dan,

Seemed nice if perhaps a bit overpriced at $125K for a 575 with stick.
Given the lack of handling package and steering sensor, I'll keep looking.
Maybe I should just look for a nice 550.
Are there significant downsides to the very early (1997) 550s??

A 575 with a gated shifter would be nice weather it has the handling package or not.
Its a late car so it already has the stiffer suspension ECU.
Where is the car located? What dealer is selling it?

The 04, 575M, is at Ferrari of Newport (Orange County, CA).
I haven't seen it yet, but the photos show a nice machine, 8,800 mi.
    Red/Tan, $125K.Your thoughts.....

I just saw it online. It looks like a very clean car.
It may be a bit high but a few things to take in consideration.

    1. its a gated shifter car, hard to find in a 575
    2. Its being offered for sale by a Ferrari dealer
    3. Rosso corsa/ tan color combo always bring a premium

I would buy that car in a heartbeat over my 575 with F1

If anyone is interested in the 575 at Interstate I would be happy to look at it for them. I live 20 minutes from there.

Ivo- Affirmative, one new HGTC 575M, SN 140529, AN 58286, Rosso Corsa with Cuoio Daytonas and rear shelf, manual shifter. Not very many HGTCs with three pedals and probably only about 50 HGTC 575Ms total, as a WAG.

My dealer once told me that there were 9 575M HGTC sold in Switzerland (delivered as HGTC from the factory, no retrofit [one of them is mine, I was inspecting another one]).

If we assume that about 10% of all Ferraris are delivered to Switzerland (I guess it’s less, though we have the highest ratio of F-cars compared to population, OK, may be Monaco has an even higher ratio…) then there would be around 100 HGTCs from the factory plus some more where the HGTC package has been retrofitted.

Markus- Somewhere between 50 and 100 would be about right, but I think it is more towards the bottom than the top.

Terry – I prefer your version (closer to 50) over mine (100 or more). This would make my HGTC even more special :)

Markus- Everything good they put on Maranellos went into the HGTC, so they and the Barchetta and Superamerica will be the collector cars of the Maranello family.

My estimate of 575M production by year is 30% 02, 30% 03, 25% 04 and 15% 05 (US MYs ~starting in September), so that makes only about 310 cars that could have been HGTC equipped from the factory. A large percentage of the late cars from about SN 140000 were HGTC, but HGTC was rare at first. Could have been that Ferrari just equipped most of the late 575Ms with HGTC unless they had a special order for a different set of options. At $25-27K for the HGTC option, they were making quite a profit on the HGTC package. The only parts on the HGTC package that were more expensive than those on a standard 575M were those related to the brake system.

Matthew- Will do. Would love to see some photos. Sounds like a really nice car. Your car makes the 100th update of the SN and AN list.

taz -- thanks. attached are a few photos. whomever ordered the car originally didn't hold back on the options. carbon, sport seats, fhp, ... i feel lucky to own it. and, i just pulled out the center resonator and put x-pipes in, and replaced the cats. what a difference. traction control is working overtime. i'm not sure if it's the new tires (i've been told they put a resin on them, which takes a while to wear off), the cats, or the cool temps. but it's great.

Correct, but no Daytona's - car has standard seats with red stitching.

    Feel free to make note.

That said, the important details such as HGTC and manual is indeed correct.

Brown- Thanks for the info. I do not keep track of those details or of who owns which car because of privacy concerns, so the list will not be affected. Carbon does, though, so, that will be good for him to know.

Funny, my car has standard seats with red stitching, too.
