Gerry. Really. Do you think before you say some if the things you do? I am an enthusiast and a purist and I bought a spider. The broad statements made on here are just laughable. You live in Canada and if I lived there I would not want a convertible either. Those of us who live in more temperate climates can use convertibles with some regularity and enjoy the open roof excitement they allow. I will be using my spider only in nice weather and that typically translates into top down weather as well This idea that spider owners are somehow less "purists" or "enthusiasts" is just absurd. They also sold more spiders than others in the us so it is perfectly obvious that there would be more of them for resale than the others as well. Gerry. Check my last name. agree except for 1 thing: Living in this climate is more of a reason to get a spider (which is what I have) because the cars are stored away from december to april. Since we can only enjoy our cars during the summer, it's best to maximize that enjoyment by enjoying the open air in a spider.
Just to expand a little. It's simple math. There are more people that like a non convertible car in general. The ratio above applies to ALL cars on the road today. WE ARE SPECIAL ! :>)

I had both, one after the other. The spider is a very cool car to drive around, but it is a little bit more self-concious. I never really felt good about parking it unobserved. Locking it seemed and invitation to have the top slit. You are also pretty limited on where you are allowed to track the car. The coupe offered me more security and less worry.
