I have just wrapped my Rosso 458 roof in gloss black. Of course then read a post - saying wraps discolour and go dull after the first wash!!!!!! Ouch. !
Is this true - has anybody else had a gloss black roof wrap. Have I made a mistake ? Is a brand new baby - and I am devastated. It's fine saying they peel off easily - that doesn't make me feel better! Surely the adhesive damages the paint finish ??

I have never heard of any wrap discoloring after being washed. It doesn't damage the paint either. Where did you read this?
If it is a good quality wrap you will have no problem whatsoever.

I don't have gloss, but our California and 458 both have flat black wraps on the roofs and they have held up just fine. The guy who did my wrap said that the correct way to do the gloss black is in two layers. The gloss black covered by the 3M shield material. So if you don't have the 3M on the top maybe you should contact your installer and see what they say about that option. Of course it's twice the cost.

Hi guys many thanks for your responses. Very helpful.
Will check on the 3m shield layer for added piece of mind!:

Great feedback here, I am looking to wrap my 458 with suntek clear bra on the body and gloss black on the roof. Does anyone have feedback on Suntek clear bra?

Suntek has a good reputation. Talk to a reputable installer. They may prefer working with something else. There are many good choices.

Suntek Ultra is the clearest with least amount of orange peel effect IMO and I've used them all

Suntek is a great film (used it on my 430 and 458). The adhesive is a little "less aggressive" than Xpel (which isn't a problem) and it is a much clearer film with less orange peel as others have said.

Curious but how much does it cost to wrap an entire car... say a 458 spider?

With some minor paint correction and Clearplex on windshield, I paid about 7K for custom Xpel wrap, 3 years ago. Been very pleased with results.
