How does the new rack fit in the mounts Guy? Did it require shims?

84 308 GTSi. A lot of RCR (remove, clean, reinstall) on both window motors. Both windows were stuck in the lowered position. 3 tries to get it right on the drivers side and got it on the first try with the passenger side.

Thanks to all that posted on the Power Window Madness thread back in 2007-08, stop by for a beer if you ever find yourself in Somers, NY.

It's the same dimensions as the oem rack - so the clamps should work without anything extra (famous last words...). Just sitting on the bench it looks fine.

I had an alternator/water pump belt that started squeaking on startup so I decided to tighten it.

I dropped the wheel insert to get access and found that the coolant tube was positioned too close to the alternator pulley and had just started to rub when the coolant tube moved slightly during use. Luckily there was no major amount of wear on the tube [yet] so re-positioning the tube by backing off the hose clamps at the water pump and at the base of the tube allowed me to pull it out every so slightly and effectively clear the pulley. A quick tighten on the belt and voila...squeak gone.

Next up....install my new muffler .............

I had 10 minutes on my hands....what to do, what to do?...

A-ha. Adjust the sr fuel filler hose so that the filler cap sat better in its little space under the fuel filler door. Loosen clamps, twist the hose. Added a sliced piece of rad hose under the filler hose to prevent rubbing of the filler hose and the wheelarch. Tighten clamps. Done!

Then time to go riding (sadly the car isnt ready yet).

On the way home from Chester the indicators give up the ghost, relay not clicking, nothing. Had a look at home and the fuse had blown, put a new one in and pop the indicators on and hey ok one on drivers side, left side weak flashing , the heater light flashes, and the rear reverse light flashes, and hey the fuse blows again after a few seconds. luckly found short very quickly. I found the wire attached to the top rear indicator bulb had detached from the connector disc in the holder and was touching the metal lighting holder. Easy fix happy days

When I got my car the leather was very dry and stiff. The passenger seat was especially bad.

I have used leatherique on it before and it has improved. It is soaking in now and I plan to give it a couple of days to really work its way in.

While underneath i rerouted the cable to the alternator - it was running too close to the headers - and cleaned up and shrink wrapped a tired wire running of that line. There isnt a lot of room to move in there with the car only on jack stands.

There's LOTS on tap now that I can work on the car outside. The garage is just too small.

Today was the start of a 2 day wax (meguiars paint cleaner, glaze, wax).
I'll be trying to cover some of the paint chips before the wax goes on
using Dr. Color Chip or Langka, whichever works best.

Just finished the final polish on a 2 week repair and repaint of my lower valance. Need now to find a suitable piece of foam for under the radiator (replaced the uppers already). What a project on something most people will never see! Before and after pics for your amusement.

wow, your undertray looked worse than mine was! I thought about adding some sacrificial teflon strips or something but in the end refitted as it was after some home repairs and painting (semi gloss black doesnt need the polishing!).

I didnt realise there was meant to be foam under the radiator..I just used some hardware store foam for the top and side.

previous owner had the cam covers machine polished in 2000 as part of a full engine rebuild by Superformance here in the UK.

I keep on top of it each year with AutoGlym metal polish and elbow grease !

Trouble is that once you have it this clean, it becomes very time consuming to keep it that way - which is why i do it over the winter when it is too cold & salty to drive.

Poo to Dr. color chip. Bravo to Langka. Having used both, I like Langka's effect better. Depending on the chip, it will almost disappear. I did about 5 major chips and an pretty darn happy with the results.

    Let the full detailing commence!

I took out my seats, and put lots of conditioner (ColorPlus) on them and the door panels. I am letting them soak for two weeks while I'm out of town, I'm thinking the longer to soak in will be better. Some good news for me, I found the piece of carpet for the feet on the driver's side, it was under the seat!
