My engine out adventure

    I have searched but haven't found the referenced thread to using a 4 post lift to drop the engine.

    Can you post a link to it.

    I'm not sure where that is, but here's how I did it ;My 4 post lift came with casters so we put the car on the lift, the turned it sideways across the 2 car garage so it could all be done in-doors. I then ran a line from the lift to an eye bolt in the wall, put some buckets of water in the front trunk, and used the tow hook to tie the front of the car down. I then jacked up the rear of the car, and placed home made trolleys under the jack points. Just heavy duty wood with 4 wheels attached, but the wheels have to be fixed in a fore-aft direction. The trolley must track straight. Use some wood blocks stacked on top of that to get the correct height, then screw it all together. Make sure there will be enough clearance between the front of the engine sub-frame and the trolleys...they have to be pretty far forward for everything to drop out. Now you can roll the car forward and back on the lift using the front wheels and the trolleys. I used a come-along for movement purposes. Get the rear end way out in thin air and before all the bolts are out, rest the rear sub frame on a cart underneath. Undo the final bolts, then use the lift to raise the car, leaving the engine on the cart. I then rolled the car forward again, moved the lift back to it's usual position in the garage. Now all the cars could fit back in the garage in their normal fashion, while engine work got started.

    Very impressive thread and the engine looked outstanding! What I really want to know is how do you roast carrots? What do they tast like? I live in the South and thought I had eaten everything but never roasted carrots.
