Formel 1: Red Bull schafft Teamorder ab - SPIEGEL ONLINE (in German, other sources are surely available as well) Well, the title says it all. No more team orders from now on at Red Bull. Their interpretation is that it's some sort of apology to Vettel, with him having to come to the factory to apologize being an overly harsh reaction by the team. Horner is quoted with saying that Webber too hasn't always followed orders.
It doesn't take a genius to work out that Vettel determined, unilaterally, that there would be no team orders from now on. Why does this need a formal announcement?!
No "team orders" on track, but you might see the odd "bobbled" pit stop? Besides, unless Webber can get off the line better, it's hardly a situation likely to come up again. The grid front chopping and sorting at the last race slowed down the pack enough to give Webber time for his signature "leisurely" start.
Like we haven't seen that already? That's funny. Did Horner-Ochse finally realize that every WDC point counts and that Vettel actually did the right thing in Malaysia? Not just for himself, but also for the team, which also wants to win the WDC.
He'll be hiding where all slower F1 drivers hide: Behind a pile of technical excuses It was the car, that broke down, wasn't fast enough, didn't have the right parts, wasn't set up correctly, team strategy was against him, pitstop took too long, blablabla
When one driver doesn't listen to your orders (Vettel) and you know that the other one won't in the future (Webber) it is a good management decision to announce you will no longer give them (Horner) and it saves wasted breath. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a team organization though. Maybe they could split the team-Toro Kangaroo or Red Kangaroo vs. Rot Stier? VettelLand uber alles? It should lead to a good chance of them crashing each other out at least once
I think these are worse news for Vettel than for Webber. Webber will stiil lack the support from his team to be in the run for the title but without orders can steal some points to Vettel.
You're kidding right, Vettel is branded now. Over 80% completely disagree with this little stunt and everyone is throwing him under the bus. Vettel and Red Bull's reputation took a hit for this stunt, especially Vettel. It was a stupid move, Vettel could have crashed both cars out and I thought Vettel learned his lesson in Turkey. Vettel then lied about 'not knowing'. Hogwash. The kid took advantage of a situation all for his 27th win rather than 'just' second place for a race that doesn't really matter. Totally unnecessary this early in the season. Alonso doesn't act like this, only Senna comes to mind to have acted like this in the past and at least Senna had darn good reason. I cannot think of anyone ever completely disregarding orders and hosing their teammate in such a fashion before without the WDC specifically being on the line.
Ferraripilot, every single point is important from the first race till the last race. When millions of dollars are on the line, and the cameras are rolling, if it were me?..... I would have gone for the pass. What Vettle did is good for the sport. Anger and rivalry is good for the sport. My son races motorcycles and here's my advice to him, "pass anyone and everyone untill the race is over." He can make real friends with other people away from the race. All that being said, Vettle is a total turd. He is a worm and you can see in how he didnt man up to Webber in the weigh in room, that he is a slimey wimpy boy...... But he's fast as hell.
I can agree with that under normal circumstances, but this situation houses stipulations relating to technical issues not to mention conduct issues. This was his team telling both to go into fuel conservation mode and hold position so both cars can be brought home and finish the event, then he lied about it. If this were an order from a team advising, 'don't race, just stay where you are' for no other reason than I support Vettel's pass 100%. No, this was an order to not stuff the car or run out of fuel. Seb gambled heavily in doing this because he very well could have run out of fuel, then he would not only be the biggest jerk on the grid, but he would be a laughing stock for being the dumbest guy on the grid. He was lucky, but very arrogant in this instance and most every driver is throwing him right under the bus.
This is good news for any non Red Bull fans. It also shows that the management have accepted that there is no point giving orders as they will be ignored anyway. Is the tail wagging the Bull? I agree that at the majority of races this won't be an issue as Vettel will be so far ahead of Webber, but if they get into another Malaysia situation Webber will surely prefer to crash than let Vettel pass?
Wasn't it Red Bull and Christian Horner that were high and mighty in 2010 after Germany saying they never imposed team orders, especially when it was so early in the season? Seems strange they would announce this... unless they were lying! Maybe Vettel DIDN'T know about the orders
Negative: The reason they announce it is just pure PR: They always (lied) said they don't have team rules because "the young generation of today" don't like them (read: don't understand them) and consider them unsportive. Since Malaysia they have a PR desaster on their hands, hence the public announcement. It's all PR BS.
Why am I not surprised that two of the biggest MS fans on here condemn Vettel? You realize that last year's WDC was decided by less points than what Vettel "stole" from Webber in Malaysia? And you also realize that every race pays out the same amount of points, whether it is early or late in the season? The WDC starts at the first GP, not at the last few. Ferrari did the same to Rubens in Zeltweg for the benefit of MS and they were absolutely right to do so. Once the title is in the bag, points/victories can be gifted back. Not before.
Exactly. Vettel and RB come out with egg on their face, and Webber will now have huge fan support as long as he doesn't do anything classless....
No more team orders? What, you mean all those times RB smugly looked down their nose at Ferrari's tactics was a bunch of bull****? How about Vettel's "dirty tricks" comment last year after Brazil? This is incredible. I remember certain posters on here telling me how lame Ferrari was for their team orders and how they should model their team more like Mclaren or Red Bull LOL! Where are you now?
