RB: No more team orders

You're over-analyzing it. Why would MS fans care about Vettel? He's still absolutely light years from even coming close to what MS accomplished. Light years. If he was closer, I could maybe see it.

Let's turn the tables, maybe you always have such a hard-on for him because you see him as the best possibility to beat MS's records?

 

Next year he could break the pole position record and add it to the records he already owns.

They made no bones about having team orders of late.

Perhaps they should rebrand the team Seb Bull.

 

vettel disregards team orders so the team just decides to do away with them altogether. This is laughable. If I were Mark this would further entice me to just walk away. i"m sure mclaren could push sergio perez back for a year to let him develop more.

 

Do any of you think that there will be a bump or two between Vettel and Weber? They both have a lot of testosterone and the cars are, ahem, nearly equal.

 

No one is really openly supporting what Vettel did, this has nothing to do with being a Schumacher fan. Everyone is throwing Vettel under the bus for this nonsense and distancing themselves or simply not saying anything, except Lauda and a select couple others. Over 80% are disapproving of Vettel's little stunt, which makes YOU actually he minority here, not us.

Vettel has 10 more years or so to come up with 60 or so more wins and 4 more WDC. I could care less if he does it or not as HIS hero is Michael Schumacher as he said in an interview again the other day. If anything I thought that make you loathe Vettel.



I cannot think of a time when Schu completely disregarded a team order to hose his teammate other than taking the win in Austria, where Barrichello followed orders and Schu was simply greatful, sure MS was a rough driver who placed people in compromising positions as Senna did, but that's what WDC do. The only other time I've seen a driver play dumb like Vettel did was during Senna's interview post Japan and at least Senna had bloody good reason at the time considering his hose-job the year prior by the same driver.

Vettel arguing he would have regret not doing it if he were just a couple points shy of a WDC at the end of the year is a completely bogus argument to use this early in the game as he and no one can ever know what their car is going to be like compared to others 10-12 races down the road, ie. if E21, W04, and F138 were all quicker cars, then Vettel's Malaysian mistake counts for not. And if he does win the WDC by say 5 points, then his Malaysian GP result and tactics will be hung over his head for the rest of his days like Prost's illegitamite 3rd title. This is F1, who knows what other teams can/will do with their cars these days.

This wasn't Vettel placing someone in a compromising position as Senna and Schu and others have done; no, this is Vettel simply taking advantage of a situation then playing dumb about it. This is what they call "a horse of a different color".

 

If Mark takes Seb out he'll be looking for a new seat.

 

For what its worth, I don't have a problem with team orders, but I do have a problem with a driver ignoring those orders without speaking up about it first.

 

Red Bull's announcement makes it clear that Seb did the smart thing.
The honorable thing, no. But when did that matter?

 

Yep. Exactly. I don't even care if he "speaks up" first - You must follow the orders IMO!

As I said before, a split garage is a poisonous place. The team must *always* come ahead of the individual regardless of status; WDC, rookie, no one is bigger than the team.

I don't think Mark will put him into the wall (as someone noted, too classy for that), but he sure as hell isn't going to let him past - He certainly left room that I suspect he will never do again. Seb may put himself in the wall if he tries the same BS again, and everyone will (rightly) blame any such incident on him too.

Absolutely. They've come together before, they'll come together again. Neither one is going to give away a position anymore (if they ever did). Any and all passes will be hotly contested. It should make for some good racing.

Fernando Alonso himself recently declared 'bad luck' and 'unavoidable circumstance' as being real in F1. That means it must be true now.

Why I wasn't enamored with CH's "come on Seb, this is silly" comment...... Ross *told* Nico, "Negative, hold position!"

Maybe had CH said it like a true team boss he'd have heard the message a little clearer?

+1. He has lost some of his shine no matter the points. He has in no way been vindicated.
I would imagine when something is passed on the radio now he might actually hear it rather than lie in the end. Not impressed and could care less now. He so easily forgot about the team.

 

In CH's defense he was talking to his WDC, and clear number one driver. Had Ross been talking to Lewis Hamilton trying to overtake Nico he may not have been as firm. CH definitely comes off as a sissy though hah.

 

Thats called being a professional. Seb could learn a bit from that.

 

4 titles and 64 wins away from equaling MS.

It's confusing isn't it? A person who loathes Schumacher loves a driver who utterly idolizes and practically basis his entire existence on Schu. One would think that would strike the kid down! Schu and Seb love each other, it's no sweat off my back if either is considered greater than the other really. Seb couldn't exist minus Schu, and Schu couldn't exist without Senna and Senna couldn't exist minus Lauda, it goes on and on.


Seb will never ever be placed on the level of Michael unless Seb does something equivalent team-wise to what Michael did, and that is of course that Michael turned Ferrari around. Seb simply showed up at Red Bull and started winning races in Newey cars. Vettel hasn't had a 'Michael' opportunity yet to really drag a team out and perform magic acts like Michael did in the late 90s, THAT was an utterly amazing era and Michael should have had a couple more championships to his name during that time as he was certainly the finest driver on the grid hands down, like Alonso was last year. I could care less who won a stupid trophy or had the most points, Alonso was it, he did things that should not have been possible like Schu did in the 90s. Numbers and trophies are for accountants, only sometimes do they speak the absolute truth.
