His pass was on an ordered, underpowered team mate. Hardly a challenge and laughable to be honest. Vettel was passing a midfield Toro Rosso given Mark's reduced performance. The only incredible thing about all this is his utter stupidity and continuous running of his mouth no matter what apology he has made. PR wise he is a mess.

+1 exactly. Both cars were not on even terms. Mark was powered down. If Mark weren't powered down, I would say forget the team order nonsense, it's silly. This was just Seb being dishonest and taking the fans for being idiots.

i'm loving the tension though it's starting to remind me just a bit of the LH, FA feud back at mclaren. I hope MW and SV qualify close again, which given the car's pace seems likely. It should make for some awesome racing.

    From F1.com:

Vettel said yesterday "I can’t apologise for winning because I am paid for that," so I would like to have your reply about these words and if you’ve already talked about it, I would like to know if before the podium or afterwards at some moment, you thought ‘OK, I want to stop now with this team, I want to leave Formula One to do something very surprising for everybody?’

MW: No. I think the rawest emotion for me was probably the first few laps after we had the race on track. After the podium and on the podium and around there I wasn’t thinking about anything... reacting in a harsh way mentally for myself to think about ‘now I will think about doing something different.’ I wasn’t thinking like that at all. And Seb’s comments? If that’s what he thinks then that’s what he thinks, that’s his position on what happened in Malaysia...

    Fuel for Webber...

Vettel's take on Sepang & team orders from Thursday's interview at Shanghai:

"Had I understood the message and had I thought about it, reflected on it, thought what the team wanted to do, to leave Mark in first place and me finishing second... I think I would have thought about it and I would probably have done the same thing.

    "He didn't deserve it.

"There is quite a conflict, because on the one hand I am the kind of guy who respects team decisions and the other hand, probably Mark is not the one who deserved it at the time."

Either man up and say champions don't settle for second place or sincerely apologize, one of the two. Seb is trying to do both right now and he looks silly as a result.

Wasn't Webber ordered to turn his engine down AFTER the pass? Sincere question.
    +1 completely agree.

Vettel was thinking of the championship of the pass, nothing wrong with that. His apology is the part that sucks. He should've come and said straight away what he really thinks about it (Webber simply isn't quick enough to win the WDC) but then he'd have to deal with running away from an angry Australian for the rest of his life; probably not a lot of fun...;).

Somewhere "reliable" (Autosport?) reported that "Multi21" wasn't anything to do with engine settings, but rather "car 2 followed by car 1"...... Apparently, we've already heard "Multi12" for when Mark needed to hold position......

    Cheers,
    Ian

Unlike Webber Pironi was actually fast. Any bit as fast as Villeneuve. That's why the comparison doesn't work: Ferrari had two aces, RB has one.

    BTW: Pironi rocked.

your golden haired boy got butt slammed last race until the team slowed Webber down

    Vettel=Pironi=****

So you're saying Webber's not fast and yet Ferrari offered him a deal which he would have taken if RB didn't up the ante to equal because they KNOW he's fast.

Gilles had honour and obeyed team orders which is why Scheckter won the '79 WDC, Gilles could just as easily have won it.

BTW Scheckter rocked in an underwhelming way, your typical tough Sarth Ifricaan :p

Webber is pretty good driver but neither as fast as Vettel nor as consistent. He would have made a very good #2 at Ferrari as he was faster than Massa before that guy found back to his form. Right now they are about even.

Your comment about Gilles is true but don't forget how fast Pironi was: he gave Jones and Piquet a good run for their money in his Ligier. And he drove smarter than the Prince of Destruction.

Without Hockenheim Pironi would have been WDC.
Without Zolder we would have been in for another Senna/Prost season before those were even kings

I thought Pironi or Gilles were going to be the second posthumous WDC the way they drove that season, as it was Gilles died at the track and Didier died at the wheel on the water

If Webber was as fast as Seb, he'd be the three time world champ. He's not. Case closed. Webber's a fast driver, but he's not on the level of Seb, Alonso, or Hamilton. Vettel hasn't repeatedly kicked Webber ass by accident or because of team orders. Seb is faster.
