Frank, apparently you don't know #6009 history. It is the 3rd prototipo built (before 6006) and is the only one ever period Lamborghini to be eligible for Le Mans Revival... It has done the 24H Le Mans qualifications back in 1975, and my full restoration is to bring it back brand new in its racing configuration... with a 6pts rollcage. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well Islero 6489 was just accepted to the Quail Motorsports show for this years Lamborghini celebration! I'm very excited for privilege to take her back to this important show! We showed in 2011. It's a fun and smallish show during the Monterey week of historic racing and Pebble Beach festivities. But I need some help, I'm looking for a tool kit, or at least really great pictures and measurements and tool info. Also much needed a jack, or at least info on what type of jack was supplied. I'm also wondering if there was a sales brochure produced for the GTS version of the Islero. I have a brochure for the standard Islero GT but I'm looking for one for my GTS. Can anyone help? To get the car ready shes headed down to So. Cal to a friends shop for some detail fixes. Most likely we will detail the engine, and fix a few nagging chrome issues that have always bugged me... Olivier, thx for your explanation. I wasn't aware of the racing history of the #6009. My Islero GT is quite a fast car, has good torque and is as fast as my Ferraris and Porsches of the same time. However I personally see this car more as a grand tourer. Bonne Chance, Frank
Jonack, congratulations for the acceptance of your car. Quail is really a nice show and I am really looking forward for the whole Monterey-2-weeks. Unfortunately I will not bring one of my cars over from Europe, so I will be there as spectator with the only car I am having over in Cal: Ferrari 308 QV European Spec. Chhers, Frank
I'm also looking at it as a Grand Tourer, but it is the particularity of #6009 and it would have been a shame to not consider this awesome story and unique possibility of racing a period Lamborghini at Le Mans 24h...
Dear Jonack, Here it is. There are two bags, one for the tools and one for the jack. The bags are in fabric with a vinyl lining. The ruler is 50cm long. Best regards, Ed. Ed, my advice is to add a "masse" hammer... if you need to replace a wheel, the center hub tool is not long enough to release the lock ear by hand. At that period, they were hitting it with a hammer !
Ed- those pictures of the tool kit are from a Islero GTS? Great pics.. but that G. Damn scissor jack.... Those things are expensive! Ok great - I can see my work is cut out for me........ Thanks a bunch. John
I've got one. But actually I don't use it. I rather use this tool. It is pretty heavy but it doesn't scratch the nuts. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's another problem I've got with my car. The screws that secure the SS and chrome door trim, around the door jam, are different on each side. On the passenger side the screws are pan heads, all the way around; on the driver side the screws are oval heads. Ive got to think the oval heads are the proper screws, as the others, pan head, look way out of place. Any opinions here? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have got pan head screws. However, I am pretty sure there has been some variations during the production and even on a single car depending on what was on hand that particular day.
We had our first nice weekend since a very long time. This morning we went out with some friends and I wanted to share some pictures with all of you. I am looking forward to having more of these beautiful days! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ed, Thanks for your help on the tool kit - If i may, could I ask for some specifics on the tools? Any manufacture Names on any of the tools? What are the sizes of the open end wrenches? Is there any info stamped onto the jack? SN number, anything? Again thanks for your help.... John
That looks like a rough tool to put on your nuts if you had itchy ones. Sorry you set yourself up for that one. lmao
I am selling it for a good friend. He is letting go of several cars that do not "fit" with his muscle car collection. If anyone has any questions about it please let me know....it is a fantastic car and a joy to drive.
