Different rules may have applied to cars with leather seats. 40076 the ex Chinetti car is highly original and has nero door cards, central door panel and seats but with rosso seat stripe! Perhaps this was intended to match the rosso exterior. If so this may be why 40066 has marrone seat stripe and also suggests the colour scheme may be original. 40076 also has a nero leather central console, but the dash is mousehair not leather. Sorry if this is confusing!

A little confusing, bit I'm not going to fret too much over it. I would like it to appear proper :)

As for the Coco Chinetti car...I have driven it on several occasions and a compatriot in Connecticut has watched it being re-built on multiple occasions...so much for "ORIGINAL"

Maybe so but I understand the interior is still original

Would that "original" include the battery acid spilt on the passenger's side when the car sat in the warehouse in Stamford, CT for many years ?

In my pics the passenger carpet looks original but the mousehair kick panel in front of the passenger door is missing. Maybe it got eaten by that battery acid. I also noticed that the centre console is mouse hair not leather as I mentioned earlier.

Well the area behind the seats looks a little hairy! Here is a shot of the interior of my car showing the carpeted rear area and the black turned red seats. The seats have faded red and should be the same as the central door panel!

My trimmer has agreed to replace the velour with new black fabric but re-use the original leather which is still in good condition and just recolour it. Preservation rather than restoration! BTW this car was not trimmed in one of the standard colour schemes. Instead the seats were in black velour especially done for the 1976 Paris Show.

Lol yea I debated on how I should trim this area since its molded right to the seats. I'm just building this model as a quick & easy going one, so I didn't fuss with it much...

Can you spot 40042 during preparations for the Frankfurt IAA 1979? It is hidden behind the Countach mock-turbo engine. I had previously assumed this was just a reflection of the Countach but the shape of the rear section gives it away. By now the Silhouette was no longer in production and Frankfurt was a biannual event alternating with Paris.

Congratulations with the purchase. Great to have another owner on board. Must be the first Silhouette I ever saw, at a meeting in Ostend in 1994, and one of 4 Silhouettes currently in Germany.

Congrats, I wished to be able to buy this car, one of the best, the only thing I would do is to remove the strange add-ons.

Apparently 40004 joined the 50th Grand Giro at the last moment and is featured right at the beginning and at 00.30 of this video. No participant car number that I can see.....

The Convoy article has been mentioned on another thread so this is an opportune moment to show a picture of 40010 at Earls Court 1976. Although the gold Countach was also there, for some reason the gold P300 was not. Instead 20220 Argento was displayed. Derek Taylor bought it off the stand and owned it until very recently.
