They're a very lucky airline to have had so few fatalities from so many accidents. But with problems like assymetric flaps and non-functioning thrust reversers, you'd have to seriously question their maintenance procedures.

Does landed short of runway mean it never reached the runway? I'm amazed if that is the case as surely the plane would be a little ball of twisted metal? Pete
Several reports said it landed short of the runway. Not true. It actually landed on the runway but continued without stopping and off the end of the runway... into shallow water. Broke apart. Cause not known at the present.
I don't believe that was the case. I have heard that they did in fact land short. If you look at some of the pictures, you will note that there is no hole in the fence by the runway-- the fence they would have gone through if they had run off the end.

They had bought the drugs right before flying from Jakarta to Surabaya, but the airline denied they were high during the flight. Maybe if they were high (er) they wouldn't have crashed!
