I'm planning to have my '98 F355 registered in Nevada. In order to do so, in addition to the VIN check and insurance, it needs to pass emissions. This has been a California car and passes here. Any quirks about Nevada emissions that I should be aware of? Any problems with a stock 355 passing? Any tips so I don't waste a lot of time and expense?

    Thanks

Show up with a Fifty in your registration package. ;)

Shouldn't be too tough in NV.

Why reg in NV if you live in CA? It will be more expensive to reg in NV.

If your 355 passed in California you should have no problem passing in Nevada as long as your OBD II ground has been retrofit. Contact Rich Kansky at Penske-Wynn Ferrari Maserati if you run into any problems. The dealership number is 702-770-2020.

As far as registration goes in Clark County (Las Vegas) my 1998 F1 GTS plates are over $700 annually, and my 2004 575M plate are over $1K annually.

Nevada registration costs are based on original MSRP with virtually no depreciation factored in.

Good Luck!! PM me if you need some Las Vegas assistance.

    Cheers,
    Marc

I used the Nevada registration calculator online with a $140,000 initial price and it was giving me an estimate for the registration of $401 which is about $75 more than California. The big savings is in the sales tax. This was a new purchase and Nevada does not charge sales tax on private party transactions. California hits you up for 9.25% so I would be saving about $5,000. Enough to pay for my new exhaust system!

I have a business address in Nevada so I am able to get insurance for my car there. What I need to do now is get the car there and pass the emission test. The car passed California last year but I was just wondering if there were any common problems in getting a 355 to pass in Nevada. I'm driving 600 miles round trip and I'd hate to do that only to find out I don't pass emissions and have to drive back without the registration.

As long as the OBDII data shows no major errors you WILL pass.

I pay $711.00 to register my 1998 355 F1 GTS every year since the previous Governor changed the formula five years ago. Before the change I was paying $91.00 annually.
If you have a problem contact Rich Kansky at Penske-Wynn Ferrari Maserati.
The dealership number is 702-770-2020. Mention F-Chat.
They do smog in house at the dealership.

    Peter,
Are you coming to Las Vegas?
BTW - is your car an F1?
Let me know via PM when you are going to be in town.
    Maybe we can grab lunch.
    Cheers,
    Marc

NV Smog Check depends on Registration Address.

    Urban: Required.

    Rural: Nope

    Even in the same County.

Clark and Washoe County are brutal. The 15 other counties have very low county tax on registration.
Clark and Washoe County are also the only Counties in Nevada that require Smog annually at registration time.

Where at? If I can find a away to have a Clark County address and pay less for plates, let me know.

A bunch of Las Vegas people have a Pahrump address in Nye county to avoid smog and get less expensive plates.
