First time I've ever had a chance to drive all 3 cars in one day.Thought I'd line them up and commemorate the moment. I was beginning to think the old 911 was pretty quick until I got out the 348 yesterday.

    Hi Jay,

Great cars to have the opportunity to drive.

Without being biased, how do you rate them against each other for speed, performance, handling, build quality, etc, etc? Would be great to know what you think.

    Cheers.

As far as handling goes-the 348 kills both of the Porsches.Granted its a 92 and the Porsches are a 1980 and 1971. The 928 has roughly the same horsepower as the 348 and maybe even a little more pep for bottom end torque but not much. It has a 4.5 V8 so the larger displacement helps but I think the 348 would mop it after about a city block. The 911 and 928 are hard to fault quality wise. The doors shut like bank vaults and they are reasonably easy to work on.The 911 is a 2.2T rebuilt to S spec and sounds awesome with the top off. The 911 really has a neat motor and everything in it is like jewelry. The 928 is a little softer suspension wise to travel long distances comfortably and it has the exact same dogleg 5 speed pattern as the 348 and the 911.(makes it easier for me).I am in the process of stiffening up the 911 with different struts and maybe different torsion bars. As far as the 348 goes. It feels rock steady at about any cornering speed you push it to. It sounds fabulous and goes like hell. I do not see how any knowledgeable people could criticize it for bad handling or quality.

    Thanks Jay that's great!

Totally agree with the build quality on Porsches having had 9 of them over the years. Currently I have a wonderful 1987 Mondial 3.2 and love it more than any Porsche I owned before although not as well built but they are so much more passionate cars. Maybe it's still the honeymoon period for me but it's been 11 months:) I am looking at maybe getting a 348 soon and doing lots of research and seeing your thread of those 3 is awesome.

    Thanks again.

    Peter
