Generally here in Dino land it's pretty tranquil.

I've never known you to run and hide from anyone, on any subject, and generally, the person you're squared up with is given every opportunity to respond to your comments, as Shawn could certainly do here if he so chose.

Sometimes there's a back story that helps to make more sense of a conflict either between users, or in this case between site admin and user. I'd guess that's the case here. IT seems to me you're doing your best to be respectful, and circumspect in this matter, so I think that's a positive note.

Just us Dino guys don't like conflict and we're seeing it here. Hopefully you and Shawn can work through this to your mutual satisfaction. That would be my hope.

When I was a moderator, I'd take the most direct route to the finish line, which was to address the issue with whomever had a problem, as you're doing here. If the guys don't like that, well, then they simply don't know you as I do. You work hard to make this site great, and it's your baby.

I am not sure whether the analogy to employees is a good one. A guest or a customer at a good restaurant might be a better one.

From my isolated post here in the islands, I don't know anyone of you. But I have felt a great friendship with almost all, and I have used "almost" just to be conservative. The threads here have been about the Dino; that focus has kept us together. Many, including Shawn in particular, have shared information generously, taking time to take and post detailed photographs. There was one time when there was a heated discussion between two members, but in the end both were gracious and shook hands.

Some of you may have dealt with each other and had differences, but seem to have been sensitive enough to keep that offline.

This used to be a pleasant, friendly place, and one could express an opinion or critique someone's pride and joy, knowing
no malice would be attributed to one's statements.

All this has left a bad taste in the mouth. Unfortunately, and with respect, in my view it is Rob who has left that unpleasant taste. I have written this with no malice toward Rob - I don't know him - and hope he and all of you will take it as a constructive comment.

Now that all is clear, can we change the subject and stick to the OP voting issues, and take the arguments and whatever personal differences may exist outside of Dino land?

We are not lambs, but by the same token, I have never seen the degree of anger and insults of other sections of f-chat, that are bottom line, very unpleasant and turn into a ring side seat, when issues might otherwise be better vented with pm's.
Myself, I am guilty of that too, as I have rebuffed personal comments in public, not very nicely I may add.

Wash the dirty laundry at home, that's all.

The Dino land group, has enough issues trying to attain strange and peculiar parts, restore our cars and do some pretty amazing stuff that I seldom see in other sections, except by some extremely talented passionate nuts like us, than to get involved in squabbles.
I dare say there are more Dino being restored than in any other section.

Now, to you Shawn, you are punishing us and yourself, not Rob. It is clear that passions are high, but what is the point? If you both have issues, talk and have a gentleman's way out, but keep us all out of it.
It is simply not of our concern, or at least mine, who did what to whom. If someone talks badly of F-chat and it belong to you Rob, then simply toss them out, but kindly don't tell us.

We all are guests, (some paying) of Rob's. It is his ball and he can expel whomever he pleases from the game, but why quit on your own?

I am guilty of not sticking to my first request in the opening sentence, but I hope this might be the last opinion? I am really tired of it all, and one of my big enjoyments is F-chat, as I have made great friends, guys that have carried me and put up with me, people I have met personally, and I value that immensely. People that have taught me, shared, helped and best of all, parted bread together. A really special bunch.

This, unlike any of the other brands that I associate myself with.

We are Dino land, that much is clear.

Ok....

So I do miss F-Chat and the friends I have made here....

BUT.....I have still have the same problem I did before....

I own my own business, and deal with people that make me nuts, but at the end of the day, I have to move to the next person.

I don't know who this quote is really attributed to (as there are many sources), but I teach it to my guys, "The definition of TACT, is telling someone to go to Hell and have them looking forward to the trip".

It solves so many problems if presented in the right way.

I have my differences with Rob, especially about the F40 situation, but at the end of the day, he is the owner of this site. I am not expecting him to kiss my rear, but I am also not expecting him to ignore and refute me when I am a paying customer, who adds value to his business, and I PERSONALLY communicate info I am unwilling to post online.

This F40 thing will pass and will be VERY interseting. ESPECIALLY since it is now a TV show...... I am awaiting the real wreck story to be presented..... (of course, this won't happen)

I have been invloved in "Reality" TV and know how it works. Candidly, my involvement in it (and other things) put my family at risk when the economy turned, and Rob and Dave helped in that situation.

For what it is worth, I can not express the level of gratitude and honor what was done on such short notice. Rob, I will forever be grateful for how you helped. Dave, you were the guy on duty at the time. Regardless of all the fire-drill activities, multiple people (not F-Chat people) were arrested for various things..... Sounds CRAZY, RIGHT?

It is true..... Actually, a former F-Chatter (maybe still is but doesn't post), "CONFIRMED" on another site I was buying Dino's with stolen money and he posted how he gained access to a garage, since he was invited to an FCA party we hosted... He also encouaged others to get their due by doing the same....

Had Rob not taken action, my situation would have been much worse.

My WHOLE problem with Rob has nothing to do with Rob himself, but the long lasting power of the internet. F-Chat comes up easy on a google search. Anything posted here, whether right or wrong, does too.

When a situation starts to get blown way out of proportion, and it shouldn't, I don't think F-Chat should add fuel to the fire. Sure, F-Chat, has no way of knowing, but this thing we love also has the posibility of adding to something completely untrue. Like the State Farm commercial, the French Model has to be real....


AND ROB, I have NEVER put F-Chat Down.... I don't know what you are talking about. I know you, and I was mad that you didn't take any value to what I was saying vs the random guy that reported to Jalopnik.... I still can't believe you placed credance in his statements..... How has he added to this community since?

And for Grady, he and I know more about the situation than anyone else posting here..... I think if all three us of us sat down for a beer, everthing would make more sense, but we will never talk about it on F-Chat if that happens.....

Rob, I love F-Chat, but you need to realize the value of this site is ALL of the members and the info they share and post. YES, you own it, but at the end of the day, it is a communty for everyone that loves these stupid cars.....
