That's exactly how I was. I probably could have gotten away with letting things slide, but I wanted it to be perfect, hence the ridiculous bills. In the end it wore me down and I gave up, but it sounds like you have the right attitude about it. I say go for it.. you only live once!
+1 although I would have to say there is nothing better than driving a 6 speed with the iconic gated shifter...
If you are looking at the Spider make sure the top is working properly. F1 vs manual: I'd think you would be happy with either. Get a good car first. BTW the stickies are not much of an issue. You can do these yourself with the great advice found here on Fchat. Good luck and Go for it!
