sometimes it comes on. other times days and miles go by and it doesn't. is there an explanation?
The explanation is that you most likely have one actuator that is on its way out and from time to time it does not respond to the signal to turn.
David- Constantly based on signals from the Motronic ECU (speed, etc), the steering position sensor, and the accelerometers to the shock absorber ECU. On the 550, parking on non-level surfaces can also cause the lamp to illuminate for short periods of time.
This is true, I had the same problem (only when I put it in sport) changed out and moved actuators till we, or I should say Kevin at PENSKE-WYNN put the SD2 on it and brought up all 4 actuators. Played around changing settings and found a fault in the left rear. Put in a replacement I had bought and have not seen the light again and it been over 2 months now. Also I drive my car all the time. cheers, bill
Have a similar problem on my car with an intermittent suspension light. Actuator appears to be ok but I would like to check connections to ECU and accelerometer but can't locate details of where they are on car. Can someone advise location of these units, particularly the accelerometer. What does it look like? Have checked previous posts but can't find any information. Thanks
Kevin at PENSKE-WYNN put the SD2 on it and brought up all 4 actuators. That's how we found the bad one. cheers, bill
Not that I know of, unless you remove them all and check them visually. However there is no reason to despair: the tiny motors are usually ok; it is the gers that connect the motors to the actual shocks that tend to break. They can be repaired without getting a 2nd mortgage on the house, the repair is for good and you can drive the car without them in the meantime.
