FIA banned tire changes that one year just to stop ferrari from murdering everyone back in the schumacher era. RB is not being picked on they need to shut up and do what they do. They have the best designed and one of the best driver's so I still think they are the favorite to win.
who is their biggest sponsor? Ferrari corporate? i don't see how the sponsors are relevant except maybe when it's comes to pushing their drivers. i.e. santander and alonso.
Marlboro. The story is that they actually buy the whole car and "sub-lease" space thereon; ie, Santander pay them, not Ferrari. FWIW, I really don't understand this "they're a sugar water maker" argument. They have a race car manufacturing facility in Milton Keynes and the guys work for Red Bull Technology I believe - Nothing whatsoever to do with the drink. As has been said before, it's not like Newey et al were drafted from a canning plant. There's always been "standalone" teams in F1, this one just happens to make soft drinks - Why the hate? Cheers, Ian
There is zero brand identification. With Ferrari or Mercedes you can actually buy their products and drive around in them. With the likes of Williams or Sauber you have a group of dedicated racers who never did anything else but come together to race. With RB you have a soft drink manufacturer who bought a bunch of talented folks. Where is the connection with RB? What are you rooting for? For another can of an energy drink? I'm a huge Vettel fan and in that way cheering for him (not as loudly as I'm cheering for Alonso of course) but I have zero interest in Red Bull as a racing team. As said before on here: IF they would build a road car (e.g. a la McLaren) I would be happily accepting them as a racing/car manufacturer. As is, they're just a billboard for a soft drink. A very fast billboard but not much else.
That's exactly what they too have done. Would you be happier if it were "Mateschitz Racing sponsored by Red Bull"? Cheers, Ian
May as well give it away like that rather than let the taxman have it I guess. I don't know, but also suspect they've got a good (if low profile) presence in the paddock - Corporate hospitality and schmoozing etc. Cheers, Ian
There is still a strong brand association between Marlboro and Ferrari. Also, the team is still called Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro.
It's all very much guess work of course, but there are indeed "reports" that they do indeed make a "profit" from reselling the space. Cheers, Ian
I agree somewhat. If it wasn't for the ability to advertise on the side of the car, Bernie's ex wife would have more interest and involvement in F1 than Red Bull.
IMO, there is a difference between the "F1 forum" fans and your general fan. A common myth among F1 forums is that Santander primarily finances Ferrari, tells them who will drive the car, etc. hence the natural association with Santander many have. Obviously, a company as big as PM has done their market research and still sees a benefit considering they recently reupped for hundreds of mil
"Fans here" are different to the people they're catering to. Just my opinion. Also it's noteworthy that Marlboro's worldwide market share has increased exponentially in the last 20 years to the point where they are now the dominant brand worldwide. Maybe it's as simple as a case of "why mess with a good thing?"
how is it worth their time to sponsor though now that the logos are all banned in europe? i remember for renault mild 7 used to be their sponsor and BAR for honda.
