Stock Manifolds-Hyperflow-Capristo-3 set up I suspect that I have an exhaust leak due to a muffled ticking sound that suddenly started. 1. Could it be certain clamps might have come loose, say at the Y Bypass or maybe the 4 donuts need to be replaced? 2. If the Headers need to be replaced, should I go Fabspeed, the Originals, etc ??? 3. When I get the car lifted for my oil change, can the Manifolds be accessed readily so they can be inspected or removed, or do I need to remove the entire engine for this process? Need your in-depth previous experience with this...
Get it checked out ASAP. The ticking sound is most likely your headers. Continued driving can cause cylinder wash which will wear your engine out far quicker ( assuming it turns out to be the headers). The headers can be changed without removing the engine and there are several good choices but nearly everyone will tell you NOT to use the stock headers. Personally I have Fabspeeds with no issues three years into ownership. Best of luck.
Check the joints where the manifolds meet the cats. Check the manifold to the cylinder head nuts. Solved my problem.
Its really not even a Ticking sound, just a muffled sound thats consistent with RPM aceleration and as I drive faster the sounds goes away Its only coming from the right side, the left has no sound at all
Check also where your EGR pipes plumb into the headers. There may be a crack there, which would be a whole lot easier to repair.
