interior looks great. i also have a cork interior and it needs a good deep cleaning.

Anyone here buy this '77 ice green metallic on eBay, 9307800366. The auction only lasted about an hour and I'm thinking they could have got a lot more $$$$ with a 7-day auction verses the buy-it-now.

Idart, hopefully I'm the new owner of 366. Don't like buying cars (or anything for that matter) under these circumstances but given the (world) market for these cars I knew if I hesitated I'd be lost.. I know enough about these cars and this market to feel pretty confident it's worth what I paid on the pictures/documents/comments of the seller alone. At least that's another US spec Turbo Carrera that will be staying States side...Ultimately the car needs a lot a work but I'm surely up to the task.

What are you doing about insurance? Grundy is giving me a hard time on my $50k stated value policy application. AAA also said max was $41k. The best I have is a Hagerty report with $48k for a condition 2 car.

 

I go with hagerty. I have an '86 930 too, so they gave me a multi car discount. Both 50k stated, roughly $360 per vehicle...I don't think you can do much better than that...

 

+1 on the bargain price.

Back on the topic of a 930 Turbo Carrera. I saw this earlier this morning on my local Craigslist and I already e-mailed Magnus about it. If he doesn't get it, can someone here save this car? Wrong lip on the whale tail, wrong door panels, can't see the boost gauge on the tach, RoW bumpers. Perhaps it is a 76?

- Best dealers of 930s?

Has to be pre -83 due to taxes when importing to Sweden.

Thoughts on this are appreciated...

 

It's right here! Ck Ferrari ads. I have been offering this car for a while, am asking top of the market price. It is an absolutely mind blowing original paint (triple black)...easily one of the best in the world! Hurry there is interest in it right now, but from auction houses that wanna go for a world record price with it....no joke! It is listed on Anamera also, do you check there?

Anyone know what dimensions the original Fuchs rims had on a -79 Turbo?
By a stroke of luck I ran in to a -79 Indish red, 25000 miles, 300bhp European 911 Turbo today and bought it immediately.. It had just come in to one of the Porsche dealers in Stockholm, Sweden. It would have been gone tomorrow...a 20 minute decision.
Just need to change the rims. Everything else is like new. And I mean like new! Will post pics later. So happy!! My childhood dreamcar...))

 

I know the feeling about a 20min decision. '79s had 16 inch wheels, 7s in the front, 8s in the rear... Congrats.

 

Here are a couple of pics of the -79 Turbo I bought yesterday. It had just come in to the shop and my friend just happened to see it while servicing his 997 Targa. I went over there and bought it in 20 minutes.. My childhood dream car.
Unique car. Comes with all documents, 25000 miles, just in fantastic shape. Cleanest enginebay I've seen on a Turbo. Will show more pics later...it's still at the shop.

This one is no. 520 and lives in Denmark now.
It belongs to my friend who bought it from a CA seller in 2008.
It was not sold in Ontario recently.

Windsor Specialty Auto Sales: 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo

It is a bit modded which you can see from the link, but still retaines the original looks.
BBS rims, Turbo S steering wheel and Rarly L8 muffler was added by my friend.

No. 480 is mine (the one with KKK decals)
It has 95 k. miles on the clock and runs very well.
I bought it in 2009 and imported it to Denmark from CA.

The original paint (code 700) and exterior trim was a bit tired.
So I disassembled the car almost completely and had it repainted and re-trimmed using new parts.
(incl. euro bumper overriders and front bumper rubber corners)

I restored the interior using only cleaning, lots of hide food and a new black headliner.
I couldn´t bring myself to erase the patina.
The leather, vinyl and carpets responded very well to TLC and came right back to life, even after many years under the CA sun. Everything about theese cars are just quality.

The engine was doing fine.
I did a compression test (was fine) and decided to leave it alone.
I changed sparkplugs/wires and oil/filter and checked valve adjustment though.
Except Carrera hydraulic chain tensioners and exhaust system, the engine is otherwise unmodified.

Changes/Mods are:

Aircon deleted completely.
(incl all brackets exchangers, hoses and incar equipment……saves a lot of weight)

Headlight washer system removed completely.
(The flush mounted nozzles serves as cosmetical plugs only)

Foglights completely removed.

Rear Wiper completely removed.

Momo Prototipo steering wheel.

Dash is a later item with a center vent grill.

Rarly L8 equal length headers and free flowing muffler.

Carrera chain tensioners.

Cross drilled rotors

I lowered the car a bit and put on 235/50/15 / 215/50/15 tires.


I have all the original parts except the dash.

The car (which goes by the name of Ilse, by the way) weighs in at 1130 kilos dry and feels very light and alive.
She fires up every time I turn the key and comes on full bost at around 2700 rpm´s due to unrestrictive exhaust system.
I haven´t put her on a dyno, so I don´t know about HP´s.
But I do know that I LOVE LOVE LOVE her and wouldn´t sell her if my life depended on it.
I never look at other peoples cars and wish I had one like that…….I just want Ilse 

I don´t think anyone mentioned it, but there is a few things besides light weight, small brakes and no IC that makes the 3.0 cars quite different animals from the 3.3´s

The engine was moved approx. 30 mm. rearwards in the 3.3 to make space for its revised clutch.
That shifts quite a bit of weight to the wrong side of the rear axel.

The 3.0 engine has a shorter stroke which makes it more free reving by nature.

I actually know 4 guys who own Turbo Carreras and who lives within 50 km. from my home.
I know, it seems like they all go to Europe.... Sorry
US (the dry states) is where the good ones can be found.
Or maybe I should say "could be found". It has become much more dificult to find unmolested Turbo Carreras theese days. At least we have to pay a lot more today compared to 2009 when I bought mine.
It seems most og them have found new owners who wants to keep them (like me) or have been snatched by classic car dealerships. Most people seem to know that theese cars are taking off into another realm of demand at this very moment.
They were unobtainable poster cars a generation ago......and now, as they mature into the ranks of classic cars, they are beeing rediscovered by that generation.
(at least that was the case for me)
And age has not made an early 930 look any less intoxicating.

In the previous post I forgot to mention that all US smog equipment (incl. airpump, injectors and of course thermal reactors) have been removed from my car.
It does nothing except zapping power, adding weight and making the engine run hotter.
And it wasn't intended, by Porsche, to restrict and put strain on the engine like that in the first place.
