Strangely I haven't seen discussion in other threads around structurally bracing the radio.

Given the dash hole for a radio is just fiberglass without any support is there a part used for bracing the radio when installed? I have two spare units on hand: a Becker Mexico or a Voxson Stereo 8-track. I'm tempted by the Voxson as it looks really period correct and was used in Daytonas/Dinos of that era, however the Becker is probably the better usability choice. The downside of the Voxson is also the size of the unit is slightly bigger than the existing dash hole in my 1973 Dino GT. They both have a separate amplifier unit that would have to be mounted somewhere. Actually, I may not have the amplifier for the Voxson 8...which may be a deciding factor on what to install!

    Any suggestions for mounting?

Throw them both away. Dino's make their own music.

I would like this answer also . my car came with a modern radio that is much lighter and seems to be held in place via the mounting bracket . but I have bought a period correct becker mexico and came across the same problem.

Don't think many will want admit to putting sounds in a Dino
Not knowing what you have or how it fits, cannot really help

    my experience:

The weak link is the area around the holes. Use large washers immediately behind the dash and as large as possible in front, to spread the load.

And, or fashion a bracket to cradle radio.

check this out see if it makes any sense

I had two dashes that had to be repaired for this very reason.

The suggestions they gave you are completely wrong as the radio weight is not correctly supported on front side...vibrations will crack the thin dashboard, the right way is to have a cantilever frame (1 large or 2 narrow, L shaped stiff steel bracket will do!) bolted to the car body front. The amplifier unit can be freely suspended near the main unit. This is how the heavy (about 4 kg) Voxson Sonar first model (but the second would be more appropriate...which year is your car?) must be securely fastened.
So there will be no stress around dashboard holes.
